Some LLYs are known overheaters. Some argue that all LLYs will overheat if pushed hard enough.

Of course an engine can overheat. You will encounter this "overheating" issue rarely. I wouldn't worry about it. LLY is a good engine.

mine is solid i have heard injector issues plaque us just like you lb7 guys. No overheating and i drive with a 120hp tune all the time other than towing heavy loads. tell him to invest in a pyrometer aka egt gauge

No problems on either of my 04.5 or 08, install a EGT and save your engine.

my LLY overheats everytime i tow my 35ft toy hauler! its only about 12,500lbs loaded. my buddies stock '04 dodge will tow his 40ft hauler better than mine anyday. i enjoy my truck untill i am towing heavy with it. it just loses all power, gets horrible mileage and the damn fan is running the whole time. it usually runs anywhere from 210 to 255 deg and my trans runs in the 200+ range as well. but im sure mine is the only one that does this though :)

Went on a long trip with my and got stuck in crawling traffic in 68 F weather gauge didn't move about 91. But for some odd reason crusing gauge went up to 100 don't know if thats normal ???
What should temps read normaly on a desert day ??

Try cleaning your raidiator, the fins are so close together they pick up a lot of dirt and bugs we started having a over heating problem then we cleaned the radiator and the heating problem went away.
