my turbo is leaking coolant into the ic and into the intake, how? i dont know you tell me. i am going to just take the turbo off and buy a used or rebuilt turbo. if you guys have any info on how the turbo could leak coolant, or if you know of anyone that has a turbo, please let me know. also i am thinking about bypassing the coolant lines on the turbo and tying them together to keep the flow that was it doesnt leak anymore and i can get it to where i need to work on it!

Are you sure that you are not having a problem with the head gasket?

For coolant to get into the intake side of the turbo, the center housing would have to be cracked. Maybe block off one of the coolant lines and put air pressure in the other. If it leaks, then you confirmed the turbo is the problem. If it holds the pressure, look somewhere else.

It means they might not have done it right.

Check the banjo bolt that holds the coolant feed line on the side of the turbo.

Did they do head work? I have had 2 sets of heads ruined by different machine shops on rebuilds. if the cut the valve guides too tight they can crack the heads!!!

Check the banjo bolt that holds the coolant feed line on the side of the turbo.

on the banjo bolt there are two washers, one on each side. when i was installing the big head i lost one of the washers. so i had to go to orielly and get one well they didnt have the right one i needed so i had to buy two and put them together to get close to the same thickness, but i dont think that would have anything to do with it seeing how the banjo bolt shoots coolant right out of the end of the bolt into the cavity (right) i mean its not leaking to the outside! i have been wanting to test with mineral smoke tester to see if it is leaking but i cant find time to get to the shop its at and test it. and the guy that has it is giving me the run around because i asked him if there was anything wrong with the turbo before the rebuild and he said no. which would have been a good time to do this. so now i am pining it on him and hes taking his sweet little time!boy am i pissed!

Just me, but i bet the head gaskets are leaking. Turbo's leaking under 15psi coolant pressure is not common at all.

Agreed!!! I would make a cash bet it is not the turbo!!

So with the intercooler boots off you can physically see coolant leaking into the compressor housing when you pressurize the system? Or did I read this wrong? Since you stated it is leaking into the intercooler and the intake.

Okay So As You Can See I Was Having Problems With Coolant Leaking Into The Intercooler. So I Was Running Some More Test And Took The Boost Tubes Off Both Sides Of The Turbo To See If Coolant Was Coming From The Turbo While It Was Running. I Had Massive Amounts Of Oil Coming From The Turbo. And It Seemed Like It Wasnt Boosting Enough So I Took It For A Spin And Could Barely Get 10 Psi. The Engine Is Sucking A Great Amount Of Air Into The Intake AND THE IC SEEMS TO BE CLEAR.But I Could Put My Hand Over The Outlet On The Turbo Going To The Ic And Had My Buddy Try And Power Break It, Boost Guage Now Reads Zero. Engine Seems To Be Running Fine, Just Running Without Turbo. Is This Usually How A Turbo Goes Out?

I'm still lost. But the bits I got it does sound like your turbo is gone. It shouldn't have any oil spewing out of the discharge side. I still don't see how coolant is getting into your intercooler. If I remember correctly the coolant passages for the turbo are only in the main housing/pedastal (sp?) part and aren't part of the compressor housing so a crack anywhere still wouldn't let coolant into the intake tract. HOWEVER don't quote me yet. When I get home I'll look at my blown stocker and see.
