: 107,685 miles on ORIGINAL Brakes !
shafermike 05-27-2009, 02:34 PM Just had the tires rotated and looked at the pads, would guess 20% pads remain. The truck has 107,685 miles on the original brake pads and I tow alot, heavy.
Unbelievable...
When we ran Fords, pads and rotors every 30,000 or so was the norm.
Wish the injectors were this reliable.
heymccall 05-27-2009, 02:40 PM 120k is the norm for my construction fleet, BUT salt and corrosion conspire against getting those numbers. Read post #7 here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=146597&highlight=another+soft+brake
fast03 05-27-2009, 02:40 PM i am at 127k original pads. still 50%
woodchuck2 05-27-2009, 09:31 PM Mine are about 30% with 77k and most of it was towing. They are just starting to pulsate now, i can thank NY DOT and their road salt for that.
Idle_Chatter 05-27-2009, 10:34 PM 159,000 on originals and just had them inspected and passed with flying colors last week.
Joey D 05-28-2009, 07:35 PM I have 81,500 on my pads and while they still look like another 30 left in them the rotors are glazed and have a slight pulsating through the pedal. I do a lot of city driving and I stop at the last second so I have no complaints.
bikerdan 05-28-2009, 07:52 PM 165,000 on truck I just sold - passed inspection. Very little towing -but a lot of hauling.
bfastcars 05-28-2009, 09:54 PM I have 116.5 K with 70 % left however,
mostly on the road and no towing.
I'm going to purchase the new GM replacements
before they are no longer around to purchase.

wreedLBZ 05-28-2009, 10:00 PM My buddy just sold a 03 dually, never pulled with 160k on original pads.

What are the new GM replacements?
Dirtbikindad393 05-29-2009, 12:40 AM 109k on the originals towing 11k lbs 30-40 weekends a year and still have 40% left. I just had the wheels off the other day installing my new Bilsteins and I did notice the small heat cracks in the pads. I might be changing them before they are worn out if they start cracking really bad.
got-h2o 05-29-2009, 12:47 AM 256k just did my 03 for the first time. There was still some life left too, but I had the front end apart anyhow. Highway miles help.
Vsouth 05-29-2009, 01:00 AM 235k miles and I with 50% or so left.
ryeguy 05-29-2009, 10:29 AM I sold my first D'Max with around 175,000 miles on the original pads. The new owner had to replace them because the rotors were due and the pads were cracked, not because of wear. Awesome, though. My buddies with Dodge and Ferd couldn't believe that I got that much from the original brakes! New D'Max is well on its way to do the same.
