Well, I just got back from the dealership. I test drove and 05 GMC Ext cab/sht bed with the DMax. I was impressed with it. The 5sp Allison is a little different the way it shifts. I am use to a the 4L80E in my 01. The ride was nice and quiet. I sat there and was able to talk to the salesman with out have to yell or raise my voice. This is my first time driving a DMax. It took a little bit to get use to. Now I can't decide if I want to possibly continue to persue this or wait til '07 and see what the new design is going to be like. Decisions decisions

Oh by the way, I LOVED the sound of that turbo spooling:D:D:D:D:D

I assume the truck is brand new? When they are new the tranny still has some learning to do. That is probably why you say it shifts different. Once it learns, you won't even notice it.

after seeing the restyling for 05 that the big 3 are doing on some of their vehicles, i would certainly rather stick with the previous style......... I agree about what Max Power said, you could make me sit in a new dodge with that new car smell and it would drug my brain to buying it

Well I've decided that I will probably wait til 07. Here are my reasons.
1) I still have payments on my 01. By then I will have it paid off.
2) I want to see what the new design for the new trucks is going to look like. I figure if I don't like the look, I should still be able to get it in the current body style. Plus I would be alittle nervous about buying a new model that hasn't had all the bugs worked out.
3) I am not sure if I can justify the diesel. Right now I don't do a ton of pulling. The main reason I got the HD was because I am wanting to get into snow removal. I am wanting to test drive an 8.1 to compare.
You are right, there is something addictive about that new car smell. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Dude BUY THE TRUCK!!! I just bought the same truck and traded in the same truck for it. Trust me you won't regret it. I was gettin' 10-11mpg MAX in town and 13 highway in my 01 6.0 and now gettin 16-17 in town and 19-20 highway in my 6.6. Now, the monthly fuel bill is still about the same since it's really hard to get me out of my new truck, but what can I say, It's awesome to drive. The dealer paid off my '01 plus gave me 3,800 to put down and I jewed them from 42,500 to 32 even for the Dmax. They made the mistake of showing me the invoice and I saw how long it was sitting on the lot and really used it to my advantage. I guess it is hard to move an extended cab because the crew cabs are selling like fire. I don't tow too much either but lately my truck has been getting a work out towing everything. Man I love this power. I could not even spin the 285's on the 6.0 but now, burnin the stockers off the 6.6 so i can get some new 285's :ro) . In my opinion, There aint nothin like a Dmax :muahaha: .

MuddinDirty, howz about we say you "worked", "negotiated", or "haggled" them, rather than "jewed" them. :o: Some might take offense. ;) JJ :)

Costs more to trade each year as your current vehicle ages. Simply a matter of how much money you want to part with and when.

Agreed. If you're upside down, however, you may be able to sell 3rd party for more than trade-in if you wait. But if you owe less than your truck is worth, then act now (from a financial standpoint). Wait if you want the later model.
