What does it take to fit 22.5 big wheels on a 09 3500 4x4 gmc?

Use the search feature in this section , they ride like sh..... and are hard on the driveline, look cool though.

depends on the size tires you want. i know some guys are lowered or bagged on 22.5 even 24.5s and some are leveled to lifted on them.

well alot of the guys that ive seen that lowered theres dually on 22.5's actually shaved the rim down to a 22" and put low pro tires on, but as for me when i get my 22.5's with 255/70r22.5 they will fit with just minor trimming

The 255/70s are normally just shy of 37in tall. As for the new body style some have posted on here with just trimming on a stock truck, others have posted needing 6-7in of lift without trimming (less for the old body style).

I ran into the same problem...I dont believe you can just search 22.5, you have to use some other things like semi rim, etc...

i would say 6-8" with a little trimming on the bumper, i'm runnin 35's on a 2500 with a 6" fabtech and i trimmed mine

with 255/70s i would say atleast a leveling kit with alot of trimming, what is in your favor with running these tires is they are tall but they are alot more narrow than most 35-37s and the wheels arent near as wide or has such a negative offset.

They will fit with a leveling kit an some trimming. The only downside to it is it will ride rougher since the torsion bars will be cranked up. I suggest a 4in lift, this will keep the ride quality close to stock an keep your cv angles correct.

The added weight of a heavy wheel/tire combo along with heavy adapter(s) causes alot of stress on the front end. The rear can handle it-for the most part. The front has alot more moving pieces that are affected. Keep a pair of wheel bearing assemblies with you if you go far away from home - just in case.
