does anyone know the operating temps around town for the 1000 allison? Mine today was getting up to 200 just in normal driving. On highway it dosen't get over 150. Also when it get's that hot it feels like it slips. Any help would be apperciated.

its fine. Its very hard to actually hurt an allison by high temps. I wouldnt start worrying until 250*, but thats just my opinion.
Generally 100* over ambient is roughly what they run. What do you mean it feels like it slips? We need more info...what year truck, any mods, etc...

what i mean by it slips is that the trucks shudders and it feels like it forces itself into gear. As far a modifications in have 265/75 R16 Bf Goodrich Rugged trail all around, Bullydog power pup programmer, S&B intake, and a Muffler Delete pipe. I do haul quite often around w/ tow/haul on and it dosen't seem to get that hot in tow/haul. But, if you have and ideas it would help. (Possible bigger cooler, or deeper trans. Pan)

I picked up an oil cooler for free...and its beefy. It was fabbed up by someone else as a dual cct cooler (two coolers welded at the bottom) but its at work right now being fabbed up. The guy thats doing the fab work needed a cooler for a project he's working on and he thought the second half of mine would be perfect for what he was doing. Well that was easy, trade the cooler for free work umm okay. It measures about 18 X 11 X 2.5...like I said its big. After I get it in I shouldn't have any trans cooling problems.
