Is it necessary to install a boost/vac gauge? Just curious if I really need to know how much vacuum? If so, what is a safe range?

To the best of my knowledge, diesels do not produce any vacuum. A "boost only" gauge is what you're after.

What if... say your turbo stopped rotating from a failed bearing? Or slowed it's rotation? I think a diesel would still produce vacuum if for some reason the turbo did fail... Lets just say Boost only gauge and leave it at that. It's too dam* late to think clearly... I want to punch out and go home!

You only need a Boost gauge. Your engine will never produce vacuum, it does not have a throttle plate like a gasser, hence nothing to stop air from entering the engine. This is also the main reason why our brake system run hydroboost off the power steering pump because there is no vac. available to run a vac. booster.

Happy boosting!!!:D
