: Turbo downpipe replacement

Had my truck in for routine service plus a look at the turbo downpipe clamp (fumes in the cab during regen). Dealer was not happy as it takes 7+ hours of labor to even get to the thing to check it.

Net result is that I won't get my truck back for at least 7 days :( but I do get the new, re-engineered clamp.

Has anybody else actually had this repair done?

It DEF. does NOT take 7+ Hours to get to the DownPipe, even on the LMM. I can have mine totally out in around 30 Minutes. Granted there is a lil more room on my LBZ because Cab & Cowl are a lil more Snug on the NBS / LMM Trucks.

And for them to have it for a Week to Replace it, the Part must be Out of Stock and they gotta wait for it.

7 hours???I think your dealer is stroking you...
I have the same smell problem and the wife is after me to get it taken care of but I keep putting it off. I checked the down pipe myself one day and I can see soot at the clamp area but stories like your just help me put it off.

There are a couple of other posts about this if you do some searching. The repair is less than seven hours and even if it did take that long where is the seven days coming from. I agree with Mad Maxx, they are waiting for parts and or input from GM techs.

re-engineered clamp.
I had not heard there was a new clamp, my understanding was that it was simply an alignment issue.

I have had my downpipe and clamp replaced and it totally solved the fumes in the cab problem. My dealer had to wait a while for the parts to arrive, but replacement is NOT a 7 hour job. I am totally satisified.

I think I saw a new design clamp the other day in a magazine. Have to see if I can find it again.

Let us know... It seems like mine is not tight enough...but won't go any tighter

I'm not really worried about the 7 hours - this is a warranty replacement. If I had to pay for it, I would have done it myself. I think the biggest thing was getting the new part in to replace what they found. They didn't even want to attempt an "adjustment".

I should get it back this Thursday.

At least they can "find" the leak.
