Good for the environment, yes. But I do see a problem with this. As more and more vehicles (like cars and SUV's) which normally never did run on diesel start to run on it, won't demand for diesel sky-rocket?? What will that reflect in the cost of it?

"The consumer is only going to notice the difference where it counts -- and that's at the pump. They're going to be spending less on fuel, about 30 percent less, with a diesel as compared to a gasoline model."

I want to know where this guy is buying fuel ...

"spending less" could mean the combined factor of price and quantity.

tophog,
I with you. When I bought my diesel, gas was 201 and fuel was 146. Now fuel is as much if not more then gas.

Here's the graph of diesel $/gal that I've paid since first getting my truck in Oct. 2001 - I guess the days of $1.00 a gallon or less are long gone!:(

I save around $100/month on fuel with my diesel. The old rig was a 1995 2500, 454, AT, and 3.73 gears. I drive about the same miles/month also.

Diesel at the pump has been falling in price the last 3 weeks, is it doing that all over or is this just an isolated incident?

Good news is that it hasn't gone up lately. Bad news is that it isn't going down. Then again Cali is kind of isolated.

The local price in Forest City, NC, is about $2.29. I can drive about 10 miles south into South Carolina and fill up for $2.03. Guess I know where I'm going in a few minutes to fill up!

Diesel has cycled from $2.25 to $2.48 since I've been here in Idaho. It was holding at around $2.40 last week, appears to be set for a bit of a drop. Good news is that I make the daily 120 mile round trip to work in a company rental car and the DMax sits in the hotel parking lot!!
