I've been crying for a while, not seeing the big mpg gains I was. kept checking the nozzels the pump, etc.

last week I drove 400+ miles ack from NY , filled up and saw 26.5 mpgs for the trip doing 60-62 the entire way. Not bad I thought, lets see how much meth i used. About a gallon. didnt see like enough.

had pressure on the lines, pull the line at the nozzels and it would spray. Whats going on?????

Got home last night and pulled the line that goes from the tank to pump and left it off. This morning the tank still had meth in it.

I remembered snow told me there was a screen in the tank at that fitting. Pulled it and sure enough it was almost totally clogged.

guess I better turn the injection rate back up a bit higher.

my quest for 30 mpgs at 65 mph is now back on!
I had about given up.

What MPG numbers were you seeing previous to the "clog"?

Im also curious what your "optimistic" and "realistic" MPG's are?

26.5 mpg is still very respectable... what sort load did you have on for that trip?

what sort of MPG and power gains did you see when switching from banks to efilive?

that 26.5 was no trailer and doing 60-62 mph for over 400 miles. I thought I was going to pass out from going so slow..

best I've seen so far was 27, doing 68 for almost 500 miles straight.

there is a couple other threads in here with more details and my dyno

truck is 2wd, keep the tires at 80 psi, tonneau cover, intake and exhaust and tuner.

I can run 70 and get mid 20's easy. one trip i ran 73 almost the whole way from Toronto to home 400 ish miles saw 23 on that trip

all these numbers are truck only no trailer. too many variables (different trailer, different weight) to get a good comparison

weighed the truck last week. full of fuel and all my other work junk 8620 with the dog but without me. going to try to lighten it up

Thanks for the info... I have nearly identical truck, except im 4wd.... looking for some data to throw at the wife to justify getting a new tuner(banks vs EFIlive) and installing a H2O/meth kit. Last time i weighed my truck with empty aux tank i was 8280 lbs so your a bit heavier than me... which should be worth .1 mpg when convincing the wife :) .... .1mpg may not sound like much untill your driving 50-60k miles a year, then it adds up to noticable amount.

Hummm.....I might need to check mine too. Have you notice your tank have a vacuum. Like the lid isn't venting. I dont tighten it that tight.

my lid is venting fine.
and all this time i thought I had a sticking solinoid or something. i was pulling the line from the tank to the pump and blowing in it, (just pushing the clog out for a few miles) I hear bubbles and think no clogg there.
its been pumping but so very little compared to normal.

i really think i would see better mpgs fine tuning using efi. havent had the time to do it. got a class in june hoping to figure it out by then.

I want to go to one of those classes. Wish I could catch in somewhat driving distances.
