It has to get REALLY bad to affect performance, but the clouds you leave at each stop light will soon get annoying. I just finished swapping my injectors. I bought mine from Pensacola Diesel...cheapest place I could find and they are doing great so far...

Check out the link in the DIY section, you can read everything you need to know about injector failure and changing them if you want to tackle it. Good luck!

thank guys...if they've been replaced by the stealership, will they replace them again under warranty if I'm under 200k?

I don't know how the warranty works...I bought mine with 250k on it so I was on my own...

Dealerships are getting really tight on warranty work, if you can try a couple different ones but if you run into a bunch of flack, chances are you are on your own unfortunately.

yeah there replace them as many times as needed but they have to meet a certain criteria, and white smoke is not one.they will command rail pressure to 160 mpa and if it holds...outa luck. but if it doesnt then they replace.keep an eye on your coolant level that is whats leaking @ injector and causing white smoke. do a search and ALOT of reading and youlle get good info from people who know more about it then me!

DubV- Can you explain the coolant thing a little more. I thought the white smoke was unburned fuel that is leaking from the injectors???

you may be correct if the injector body is cracked or ball seat erosion. but another problem is the injector cup,if damaged coolant will leak past. i need to make known i am no pro, i however did have my injectors replaced due to white smoke and low power in 06. tech told me i needed injector cups in 3 cylinders(also was loosing coolant slowly)which he said smoke was probable effect. i tend to believe him due to the fact that i now have 125k on truck and all this was at 60 some k with no problems. (sign of quality work???)

Interesting! I didn't realize that, but it makes sense. Mine went bad due to ball seat erosion. All of the cups stayed in when I pulled the injectors so I was lucky there. I bet you can smell the difference in the smoke. Anyway, thanks for the reply!
