Thinking about making the jump and replacing the exhaust on my 2007 Sierra Classic LBZ. With 20,000 miles left on my drivetrain warranty I'm debating to go with the Turbo Back or Cat Back System. I've done extensive research and have come across several places that warn of codes being thrown with the use of the turbo back system. Is this an issue on the LBZ?

yup. it may throw a code imediately. it may be a few months down the road... or it may never throw a code. mine waited about 4 months and 5000 miles before it threw the code. didnt affect drivability just had the bright orange light on. you can stop the code with a finger stick , efi live tuning and I believe the ppe will stop the code as well

What tinman said, dead on. Some throw codes, others dont. Luck of the draw, really.

I have a California emissions 06 LBZ truck, with a turbo back and a blocker plate. With just a turbo back exhaust, you won't throw a code until you put a trailer behind it. I drove for several thousand miles before the first trailer tow, and no lights whatsoever with a turbo back exhaust installed. About 150 miles into every trailer tow, the light would pop up and, but I felt no loss in power or mileage. As soon as I dropped the trailer and cleared the code, it wouldn't set again until the next time I hooked up. I did this for a year and a half, until switching to PPE tuners, which turns off the lights and the EGR automatically with install.
Right now I am running a Beta Edge programmer, and got an update w/o the race program, and I drove 35 miles before I got a code, and that's with my Blocker plate and exhaust installed, and no finger stick. It clears and sets a silent code within a few miles in the ECM, and when it see's the issue for the 2nd time, it sets the MIL on the dash.
I hope that helps,
Chad
