I emailed diablo about the proposed damage the higher tuned the predator puts on the allison transmisson. I got a reply back saying the predator is perfectly harmless and will do no ddamage to the allison, especially at 85hp setting. that the allison has safety features built in to protect it. And that their shop truck is an 04 LLY with a 140 hp tune and no problems. I believe the DP guys befroe I believe a company thats selling something... but the question is how can or why would they tell you this when they know it'll chew right through it? Things that make you go hhmmmmmmm

I suspect you were talking to someone who didn't have a clue. I bet if you call back and talk to a different person you will get a different answer.

Hey man, go ahead and load the 100 tune and romp on it. Report back what happens!

The 100 has proven to limp an Allison. And a 140 won't?

PS - Who says there is a 140HP predator?

Any power program is capable of hurting Ally. Companys that make these programs should not be held libel because they sold us something we wanted to abuse our trucks. :exactly:

Hence, all the warning screens that you have to "confirm" before you can download a tune with the Predator.

CATEGORY: Predator
QUESTION: [SOme say the predator LLY tuner set to 85 hp will destroy the allison transmission. Is this true? If the allison temps are in operating range, and the egt's are within acceptable limits.....]

------------------------------------------------------------

ANSWER:
Dear justin huffman,

Justin, the LLY predator will not destroy the Transmission. Expecially on the 85hp. There are alot of people out there who have been towing on the higher hp settings and the allision has safty features when it has a transmission slip. These are the only issues that i have seen. If any issues occure we are quick to fix them. Our company truck is a 04 LLY and it runs a 140hp tune in it. And it shifts great. No tranny issues.

Thank you for your interest in DiabloSport!
Stay tuned,

Justin, don't worry about CoyoteKid - he's just being his normal sarcastic self http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

I am sure you have heard of reseach! ;) I am sure most of the aftermarket companies have test or played around with power/torque levels much higher then what they sale us ;)

Really, I wasn't trying to be a prick in this case. I guess that's kinda the problem with forums is that you don't always get "the rest of the story."

And, OK, so I'm usually sarcastic.):h

But I'm not trying to be a Richard Cranium. (that's the PC version of D i c k Head)

I guess maybe I should have said: "Tell Predator to go buy their own $45,000 Duramax and then go run the 85 RWHP balls out on a stock tranny. Then report back to us at the Diesel Place!"

On edit: They claim they're running 140 extra RWHP on a stock tranny with no issues? I call BULLS H I T! If they are in fact doing it, it's not gonna last long. There was a local guy the other day telling me how stupid I was for spending all that money getting the "already bulletproof" Allison beefed up. He claims to routinely run his Edge on Level 5 on a stock tranny. I just smiled and said, "Only time will tell if that was a good idea!"

Exactly. It'll hold it for a while but eventually somethings gonna happen. I've run with predator on a 100 with a stock tranny, I never let it go into 5th, and don't do it often.

There are custom tunes that are available from Diablosport's website.

That's what they were telling me when I set up my dealership with them. I haven't tried any of them though.
