Do you?
Check your mpg's the same way every time;
Check/re-check tire psi constantly, have more than one gauge;
Research every decision to the hilt(tires/fluids/programmers, etc.);
Have fear of making the wrong decision or getting ripped off?

If you answered yes to 3 out of 4 you are likely very anal about things, hell everything! :D BTW JJ nailed all 4! ):h Mama JJ tagged me as "AAAA" this morning, aka an "Anal Analysis & Agonizing A-Hole".

Why you might ask? We found a house on the river she wants to buy and guess what I'm doing? :o: Yep, "anal-yzing" every possible scenario and potential issue with owning this property. :o: It is truly a "little slice of heaven" we stumbled upon last night and admittedly we should buy it, but ..... IMHO we need more analysis! :p:

So this morning I started with my questions, which she could care less about! She sent me an e-mail at work addressed to the "Department of Anal Analysis & Agonizing A-Holes". Apparently she is tired of me researching/analyzing everything to death before making any decisions! This property will sell fast, JJ's in anal mode! Anyone out there surprised? ):h

Those that have read my posts, most recently the proposed "DP MPG Calculation Method" are aware I'm a tad anal. :o: I know it, I don't fight it, just live with it! ;) Turns out I'm not alone on the DP! ;) There are other members on the DP that have admitted to suffering the same plight. :D Spending hours finding the best deal on parts, checking specs, ... perfectly normal to anal people like us!

I propose the following: So that other DP members know who they are posting with, those of us that suffer the "anal affliction" post a designator like "AAAA Member" in our sigs? :exactly: This way the DP members with short fuses that don't like a lot of questions will know better than to reply to our posts, CAUSE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS! ):h

I've changed my signature designating I'm a "AAAA Member", even used red characters to make it easier for non-anal types to spot(always thinking). :o: No numbering system, no maintenance, just designate yourself so others will know. Later. JJ :)

While we were having coffee and reading the Sunday paper one day, I pointed out an article on Obsessive-Cumpulsive Disorder. I asked her if she considered me to be OCD, to which she replied without hesitation and without even looking up, "textbook.":exactly: Of course I had to retort "what exactly do you mean by that?":muahaha:

As for the house I noticed your in the big FL. You should know as well as anyone how fast the market moves here, put the house under contract just give yourself some contingencies. It will lock up the property and also give you time to think.):h

Thanks for the PM dude. I grew up in Cocoa. My plan is to meet with the seller tomorrow and iron out the details. I may need a co-signer, uh anybody? ):h

If the folks designating themselves as "AAAA Members" want to assign themselves numbers that is fine with me. I was trying to avoid the numbers routine like the "3500 Dually Club" to make it easy on everyone. Well thought out I might add! ):h :D :ro) :exactly: Later. JJ :)

You know it. My wife has been talking about going back to work for the last 4 years + and I would not have it since I did not want my youngest to go to daycare at a young age since we have no family here and so forth. She has been talking about finding a job now and at my job this morning i saw an e-mail posted for one of our other offices looking for someone and I brought this up to her. She was OK at first and then made an issue due to leaving her "baby" with someone else for a full work shift. I explained that it had to be done since she will be in school next year and needs to be de-mommyfied prior to going.:help:
Finally she has agreed to the change and is willing to make the jump back into work and let her little girl go.:cool2:
With the money I save on groceries alone, I can get lots of mods for the truck.

Well guys, I guess I have been in denial for too long now, but having reviewed the choices several time now, and analyizing every one completely I have come to the following conclusions:

Check your mpg's the same way every time = Not only do I check them the same way every time, I have created a excel spreadsheet which gives me averages, and much more, you guys should see it, you would be proud!

Check/re-check tire psi constantly, have more than one gauge = I have three guages in the truck, and four more in the tool box. hehe

Research every decision to the hilt(tires/fluids/programmers, etc.) = I researched this truck for almost 5 years before I actually bought it, does that quailify as "to the hilt"?? I guess so!

Have fear of making the wrong decision or getting ripped off? = No, I figure that after spending 5 years researching the truck I just bought I didn't make the wrong decision. (But think, if I had waited 6 more months I could have gotten the 6-speed Allison and the new cool mirrors.) Dang I guess even this one Huh!!

Ok, I guess I have to be AAAA member now, But what number do I want to be, more research on that one, get back with you later guys.:D

This is interesting! I looked in Websters thesaurus for the definition "anal" and found the following: obsessed with fact finding; never takes the first answer on anything; ask anal person what time it is and they tell you how to build a watch; CBRJohn2000? ):h

Dude, you taint just anal, heck maybe even more than "Full Quad" IMHO! :ro)

Your recollection before buying your truck fell close to home. I spent hours on GM's website, Edmunds, various truck websites, DP, etc., gathering intel on these trucks. Had all my figures in line, invoice pricing, rebates, etc. I wasn't going to get screwed, well as screwed on this deal. ;) Nobody beats the dealer IMHO! :p:

Went to the dealership with my figures neatly tucked away in my pocket. Told Mama JJ if they came in under a certain figure I was going to buy it. To my surprise not only did they come in under where I wanted to be, I got them to throw in a Linex bedliner and Auto Butler. :D Crap, what now? :o:

ANAL SCENARIO: JJ: That was too easy, my intel must have been flawed, I started hee hawing and squirming in my seat. Mama JJ: I'm tired of you spending hours researching this! You set your price, they beat it, we're getting the truck! JJ: But, but.... I may be getting screwed? :sheephump Mama JJ: Tough! :smashfrea

Oh yea, Mama JJ also wanted 4x4 on her, err I mean our truck. ;) Hmmm, no wonder she never lets me drive it. Dangit, screwed again! ):h Later. JJ :)

OK guys, I been reading and watching, deciding if I’m worthy, or if I should come out of the closet. Here are my qualifications for the much esteemed A**4 membership:

1) Following the DP MPG fueling method (summer/winter fuel??, which brand??),
2) 3 pressure gauges, but don’t check more than monthly
3) Research, research, and more research, then buy, then "did I get the best deal, oh damn"
4) Hate to pay someone else to do it for me, as I don't wanta get shafted, and unlikely they will meet my expectations, and I oughta be able to figure this out/do this myself
5) Hate when someone parks in "my spot" at work, so park furthest away from building, which works well when your parking a dually anyways
6) Get to meeting early, so I can sit in “my seat” if possible
6) Have a PhD in ANALytical Chemistry, ANAL Chem for short, pretty anal by design

Additional details: Had my rig for 6 months :ro) , still researching and scheduling the mods (well, also trying to pool the necessary resources). First stop, want that power boost, but better add exhaust first, mmm… want that dual exhaust, but... don't want to install and have clearance trouble later when I add Bilstein shocks and air bags (which ones???), maybe better add those first. Bilsteins, mmm... good deal on four, but... want to add that cool Cognito leveling kit with the 2 shock hoop, wonder if they are the same size a stock replacement, mmm...maybe need to add the leveling kit first, but.....want to add that big ass, yet to be decided on 300 lb bumper/winch before the leveling kit so that I can get the alignment set up correctly…mmm …just buy two shocks for rear, get that dual exhaust, mmm…. ATS vs. MBRP, 409SS vs. 304SS, like those ATS tips, what’s that sound like….mmm need some of those SS clamps, where do I get those mmm…..

One great thing about being anal is that at some point the wife will invariably say “would you just stop looking and buy the damn thing.” A most effective tool to ultimately justify the purchase!!!

Well, what do you think, am I AAAA worthy? :D

I think it's fair to say anyone who spends as much time as we do on a site devoted to a particular flavor of truck is....anal! I'm a pilot, so I'm supposed to be AAAA+. I've got a palm pilot that stays in the dash pockets that has all the service intervals, and does wicked fuel profiling. I can't find the thread yet on the proposed DP mpg method, but I've got a GPS on the dash to measure REAL mileage w/o tranny influence, and crossreference fuel mileage against brand and location. I've actually measured the 3 routes home from work via GPS and figured out which is the shortest, the fastest, and which one has the highest average speed. I keep looking the the 'for sale' thread to see if I can buy a life, but for right now I'll have to put up with my gal's eye rolling and sighing. What AAAA number are we on, anyhow?

IIRC should be AAAA Member #15 if you want a number, not required. Suggest you update your sig so others know they are dealing with a Quad A when posting. ;)

Always glad to see the DP MPG Calculation Method is still on people's radar screen. :D I think that thread clue'd the DP boy'z(and you'z girls-politically correct) that ol JJ was a bit anal. ):h I took some ribbing, but slowly more and more folks are posting using this method. Sure makes it easier to compare mpg's with those using it. Later. JJ :)

1: yes

2: yes - many guages, but only check before out of town trips (see I had to qualify the statement..... must be anal)

3: YES

4: YES..... need to break myself of this as it causes me too many sleepless nights

So I guess I'll take the honor of being Quad A member #16

My wife used to rag on me a bit about being Quad A, but given that it has saved us from a few very costly problems in the past, she has come to appreciate it on most large ticket decisions. But not when buying grocerys

Folks, thanks to some minor encouragement from JJ, I've come up with a warning label *ahem I mean logo for the AAAA crew. Right now it's hosted on my own machine here at home. Some day hopefully I can move it to a public server so you have it when my computer is down for maintenance. Anywho, if you want to update your signature with the logo (and just because I'm giving idiot-proof instructions doesn't mean I think that YOU are one), go to update your sig, and click on the http://dieselplace.com/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif icon. When it asks for a URL, paste

http://roswell.kicks-ass.org/gallery/aaaa.jpg

in the window that pops up. Adding the number out to the side is up to you for now. I may be willing to make one-of custom numbered logo's when I get more time to waste IF there is enough interest (and free time). Please remember, it's hosted on my HOME computer, so your mileage may vary. In fact, as soon as I hit send on this puppy, I'm pulling it apart to replace a DVD burner.....

have you got a link, or a quick bit on what EXACTLY the proposed MPG method is? I've searched for it, but can't find it on a thread.

I,ve been watching and reading this thread and wow. For the first time in my life I feel like I belong to something. For years I have hidden these secret goings on in hopes that no one would know. Now I can hold my head up with pride. Not only do I do all of the things aforementioned, but I even have 3 mapping programs for my computer and plan trips on all three to ensure accurate mileage so I can plan the exact cost and time. I read owners manuals instead of novels. It took me over a year to decide on the Juice/Attitude. I think my wife was wise to me all the time.
Guys, it's good to be part of such an elite group. I'm in.:bounce:

Ya, I fit in the group as well, even if I'm rather impulsive too. ;)

JJ, whatever happened with the Property, did you get it?

JJs DuMax

No, the owners listed the property with a realtor and the price went up $30k, we weren't willing to go that much more. We're still looking. Later. JJ :)

I'm trying to embed a 5 year old gps in my truck so I can track REAL mileage. I almost got through a tank of gas with it, but SOMEONE didn't wire it right to start with and ended up with broken wires and a blown fuse.

Well, after several weeks, and months now it seems of hurricane relief and evacuations, I've finally been able to get some usable numbers out of the old dying Gypsy. As I said before, my spedo is off by 10%. No big surprise that when I did the final numbers, the DIC said I got 15 MPG, but I actually got 16.33. Sounds like 10% to me...

I can anser yes to all four. I research everything to death. Then I check after I purchase again to make sure I did not get ripped off. Bought a lot on the TN river (wats bar lake). Had buyers remours after I bought it for 62000. I cleared it and then a developer offered me 130,000 for the lot. That fixed the remous quick.

I drive my OL nuts researching everything to death.

Check your mpg's the same way every time;

Check/re-check tire psi constantly, have more than one gauge;
More than one gauge, yes. Re-check? Once a week or so...
Research every decision to the hilt(tires/fluids/programmers, etc.);
Pretty much, though I'll frequently impulse buy someting that sounds good
Have fear of making the wrong decision or getting ripped off?
Ya, but it still doesn't stop me from buying it :D
