Hello,

Service manual states that at 50K a Allison flush is required.
Called dealer they said 130.00 + 30 for spin on. They mentioned that the internal pan filter does NOT get changed because it is just a screen and can be backflushed. Is that true?

I changed my Allsion internal filter at 5K just to be safe. I thought I remeber it being a filter rather than just a screen like the one on my wifes 97 Toyota Camary.

They were screens when they first came out, now they look just like regular filters. Allison/GM still says only to change them on overhual.

Thanks GMCSID.

Yeah Allsion does not reccomend a flush or changing the internal filter. My GM service manual does state a Transmission flush and transfer case fluid change at 50K.

I have an aftermarket warranty and have to play by there rules as much as possible. If the flush is reccomeded by GM I have to do it.

Is my service manual on crack or do you do flushes at 50K?

I don't see anywhere in the owner's manual where GM says to flush the trans. It just says drain and fill and replace spin on filter.

After rereading my service manuals, no where does it say to flush.

I have no idea where I got that idea in my head? Must have been dreaming.

Thanks GMCSID.
