: Leaking differential cover - replacement?

My son has a 2001 2500HD. The differential cover has rusted through and is leaking. He made a temporary repair with epoxy, but really needs a new cover. He has a 14 bolt, 11-1/2in differential. Local Chev. dealer says there are no covers of this type available anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. So what to do?

Is there an after-market cover that is serviceable without getting into something exotic? Cost is an object in this case. This just an everyday work truck, not a showpiece or performance truck.

Any advice appreciated.

Maybe make a thread in the classifed section. Somebody may have one left over from an upgrade.

Vendors here carry Mag Hytec and other brands.

I have a hard time believing there are no OEM covers in the U.S. or Canada. These things aren't selling off the shelfs.

Most guys on here replace there cover with a Mag-Hytec, this must be the exotic cover your trying to stay away from.

You could go the used route. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305059&highlight=cover
