I have a customer come to me and wants to put a large fuel tank in the box for extra long trips. Is their anyone that has done so, and how would you go about doing so. Thanks

Below is couple of pics of my inbed tank. I decided to build 'a low profile 40 gal tank located at the rear of the bed for a couple of reasons. Frees up the full length of my short box for hauling long items and transfers the weight of tank and fuel to the rear for a better ride. At 8" height it easily clears my 5ver hitch pin. I can remove it if needed.

My buddy just had a 62-gallon "supertank" installed in his '02 Silverado Dmax SB CC. It replaces the original and looks huge under there. But it works. Cost him $1050 installed, then another $145 to fill it up.

I installed an RDS 60 gallon tank with a tool box on top in the rear of my short bed. I tied into the OEM over flow line close to the std. fuel tank and then into the top of the overflow line at the top and ran that line back to the return side of the Aux. tank. The fuel if pumped from the Aux tank thru a fuel filter by the means of a small Faucett Mfg. fuel pup with a lighted switch on the dash. The reason for running the top line back to the return side is for safety in case I get distracked and forget to turn the pump off the fuel will go back into the Aux tank. This sytem works great for me as I use only the fuel that is pumped from the aux tank into the main tank. thus it is fitered twice before it goes to the engine. Total cost about $700.00 I did the work myself and bought the tank directly from RDS Mfg. in Florida

We had our in box fuel tank installed at the KSH factory in Havsu city Az. It came with a GM installation kit so just switching a toggle switch is all that is needed. The fuel is pumped with the engine's fuel pump. 05 duramax 3500 crew cab. An inline filter is included. chevman

Jimbo,I did the same kind of installation, except for the switch under the dash. Routing it back to the aux. tank works, but I also installed a timer switch which allows me to set the number of minutes I want it to run. 15 minutes fills from one half tank to full. I can't hear the pump running and was always forgetting to turn it off. Sure like the extra 65 gallons of fuel, plus buying when I want to,not when I have to. Henryf

I have an American Tank 43 gallon aux tank in my bed. Pictures in the PICS link below. It came as a complete kit with all parts necessary for the installation including a 6-way valve that swaps tanks and the OEM gauge to the selected tank sender with one in-cab toggle switch. Been using mine successfully for neary three years and 100,000 miles now. Not cheap - but very good. www.auxtank.com (http://www.auxtank.com/)
