: Sure Glad I have a Duramax
Turbo6600 04-28-2005, 09:39 PM Had to delete this post I guess I hurt my friends feelings . I didn't mean to do any harm just hope ford will fix their problems maybe my Duramax will blow up and make us even. Friends are worth more than trucks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif Turbo6600
D/A Power 04-28-2005, 09:54 PM  Same stuff I have heard ever since the 6.0's have been out. I recently met a new DMax convert - He is the contractor who is laying my cement. He has been in Fords for his last two Diesels. Ford actually contacted him to buy his 1st one back before he had major problems. He was offered 8k off the new one above the incentives plus 0% and a truck that stickerd for more. He of course took it ane the second one had nothing but issues and he finally got an 05 DMAX. Now that's big issues if they are seeking the customers out!
GM's not exactly clean, but they're certainly better than the other guys!:ro)
Turbo6600 04-28-2005, 10:01 PM yeah I know the Duramax has it's issues the injectors is the biggest but at least they stepped up and are making an effort to fix the problem . My friend asked me what i would do Of course you know my answer but the dealer acts like it is no big deal . but what is it Ford says QUALITY IS JOB 1 hahaha Turbo6600
dpower 04-28-2005, 10:44 PM Man that sucks....I feel for your friend...regardless of brand. I would take pics of the mess at the dealer and lemon law that thing asap. Hopefully he gets up and running soon!
duramaximizer 04-28-2005, 10:45 PM I frequent the ford-trucks forum..... the competion forum. I would love to copy and paste this post over there and have fun.
I guess I better just keep the laughs between us GM guys. muahahahahahahahahaha
Oh I dare you duramaximizer: of course if you are "scared" I wouldn't hold it against you!
socal LLy 04-29-2005, 02:47 AM Ford actually contacted him to buy his 1st one back before he had major problems.D/A POWER that sounds hard to believe and funny
D/A Power 04-29-2005, 07:50 AM I thought it was hard to believe myself, but I had to go to his shop to see the particular type of patio we wanted his other trucks were Fords. Not to mention, I really have no reason to doubt him. He is now driving an '05 Chevy D/A with 1700 miles on it and he said he likes it alot!
I agree w/dpower, in that I do not wish that on anyone, cause it sucks -:t to have to deal with. My last one was a GMC 6.0 w/piston slap which really was annoying to have to listen to. However, in all my new GM's, that was the first with a big issue. And based on my experience w/Ford, I was in no position to try my luck again - and probably never will unless something catastrophic happes and I get the 'shaft' from GM.
Kappa9012 04-29-2005, 08:53 AM Turbo you mention the Furds being aluminum heads, but be careful our DMAX's are aluminum headed as well, but we aren't chunking head gaskets left and right.
jetboatjockey 04-29-2005, 09:10 AM i do not think turbo said that kappa

"...before he had major problems."
I don't recall saying there was "nothing wrong" with it. I did not ask to inspect his service records, but either way, you don't have to believe it. I know the guy and he is now in a GM! Besides, we live here in the motor capital, and you can bet - if the manufacturer (any one of them) needs to locate a vehicle they know/believe has a major flaw or safety issue, they have the ability to find it (ever hear of recalls that get to the second and third owner?). And who in their right mind is going to turn a new vehicle down with the right offer!? :smashfrea
What a nightmare. I wouldn't wish that on anyone........:shake:
TCFenton1 04-29-2005, 12:12 PM You know, when I was looking to trade my F150 for a diesel, I opened the hood on a new F250 PSD and thought "man - I would hate to ever have to work on that thing". It looks like it would be a nightmare. The Cummins is nice to work on but it comes wrapped in a Dodge. So I got my GMC/Dmax and I love it ............
socal LLy 04-29-2005, 02:12 PM my last chevy was a 2002 chevy tahoe and it knocked .they say (chevy is like a rock) (chevy is like a knock)then I get this diesel and it starts random ticking I say to my self, great they cant even get a motor that should knock to knock like it should:rant: :offtopic: I thought it was hard to believe myself, but I had to go to his shop to see the particular type of patio we wanted his other trucks were Fords. I hear ya! mine has that random tick too like many I've read on here. This being my first diesel, I do not know whether to believe them when they say it's a normal noise that's always been there but you can now hear because they're quieter running  . Whatever!! - All I know is that it pulls like an OX and I am overall very happy!;)
My thought with my 02, was that if I am going to have an engine that knocks, it might as well be one that's supposed to!:ro)
Like I said, GM is not perfect, but I sure have had far fewer issues than with Ford, and I am eligible for both the GM and Ford employee discount (my dad worked for them) Instead, I use the father-in-laws GM discount!
I've been there and do not wish it on anyone. Hopefully he can get it bought back.
Idle_Chatter 04-29-2005, 03:57 PM I had an interesting "crossover" problem here in Idaho. Been out here on a new job for a couple of weeks and my technical contact asked me last week "are you a 'diesel guy'?" (obviously they don't know me very well yet!) and I say, "uh, yeah, why?" Seems her husband accidently filled their 6.0 PSD with unleaded gas and drove it until it stalled. Dealer had the truck in the shop and was claiming that the gasoline had "eaten up" the injectors and that all 8 would have to go to the tune of $4,500 - without warranty coverage, of course! I told her (and the hubby on a speaker phone) that I wasn't that familiar with Ford diesels, but gas fills and fuel flushes happen all the time in diesels without a "guaranteed" failure of injectors. I even researched it on some Ford forums and printed out several threads for them. They confronted the dealer and service manager, who immediately started some serious backpedaling and were "just being cautious" doing the "right thing" for longevity *IF* the injectors should have been damaged and may fail in the future! Needless to say, they had the flush and filter done and are driving the truck without coughing up $4500 out of pocket. They have also begun asking me questions about DMaxes and are considering trading off the Ford while it's still running!
Kappa9012 04-29-2005, 04:45 PM Being around much larger diesel engines all day, I would say an occasional knock isn't abnormal. Diesels are very tough to kill, and they do make noises misteriously all the time, least here in the lab they do.
