Anyone running 245/75/15 vs. stock 215/85 or 225/85? What are your opinions on it? Not asking for specific brands (goodyear/toyo/etc), just fit and what ever else.

I'm planning on trying them with spacers in between the rear wheels..Bought the spacers a while ago. I would also like to hear from a dually user that uses them with OEM wheels.

Hope spacers are not needed.

I have 235/85/16s and spacers are not needed. I wouldn't think that 10mm would make that much difference in width seeing how it's just over 1/4in.

10mm is closer to 3/8 inch and thats per tire.you will want spacers.
Also rims are 16s stock.

The ones I bought are from a guy out in Calf. His product is called Fred's Spacers. Just Google Fred's Spacers to find. He has aluminum and steel which ever you need. I bought the 2 inch steel ones for my dually. He can make customized ones. You can also find out more info on this site about him and the spacers by doing a search for the same. They are top quality and you pay for it too.

I have 245"s and 5/16" spacers and they aren't enough . Tires still rub when loaded.

285/75-16's with 2" spacers works well.

Probably could get by with 1.5" or 1.75", but no worries about heavy loads with the 2" spacers.

why do you want to run spacers for a stock size tire?

i know alot of poeple that run 245s with no rub

i know of a blue oval running 265s with no spacers. truck has some good weight flat bed 4 8ft toolboxes and 2" square stock lader racks. tires dont rub unless bobcat is on it

Looks like some guys are talking about spacers for dually wheels and some are talking about single wheel trucks.
The rub for the dually crowd is in between the 2 back tires and some have to use spacers between the wheels so the tires don't touch against each other.
bad93blaster, by your signature looks like you are not talking about the dually trucks.
Correct me if I made a bad assumption.

thats funny because i drive a single wheel truck i dont know anything about dual wheel truck. i do own a 90 6.2 dually plow truck

read my post again and tell me it makes sence for a single wheel truck.
i have never seen a single wheel truck that the tires rub anything with air without air never mind because of weight.

235/85/16 came stock on 4x4 trucks so no need to run a spacer between them

It sounds like I hurt your feelings, and that was not my intention. I'm sure you know, what you are talking about.

235s are not stock size tires on the newer duallies, they come with 215s. And most 235s will rub, especially while loaded. Post-2000 trucks have a dually wheel with a different offset. The older duallies could fit 235s with no problem.

I don't drive a dualy, but I have 265 / 75 /16's anything bigger would require some modifications on my p/u.

You should be able to run 285/75r16's on your '06 if its the stock wheel or the right offset aftermarket wheel.Might have to trim a little and it's a little wide for the stock wheel.

I have 245 michelins and am running Freds 1 1/2" spacers. You definitely need them if you tow PERIOD!

Just dont let the tires rub what ever you go with. I've seen some that where run low and rubed it ruins the tires if let go to long. Just like rubing the curb a lot.

I realize this is an old thread but in case this info helps someone else wanting to do this, here is my tire story. I had planned to use the 245's but I just went with 235x85 x16 Michelin XPS Rib all around and I do need the spacers on my stock wheels. They rubbed as soon as the truck was lowered to the ground. As stated a while ago I have the spacers and put them on. The truck looks so much better with the higher profile tire. It's a little wider too. The speedo is off a little, when it reads 60 mph I'm actually going 62.6 mph.
No big deal.

I have the 235's as well. I bought Freds 2inch spacers and installed them the day I got the bigger tires. In addition to not having the tires rub, it just looks better. Brings the tires right out to the edge of the fender.

Sounds like we have the same set up. I got the 2 inch spacers from Fred as well. I can't believe what a big difference it makes on how the truck looks. It seems to handle better too. I should have done this a couple of years ago.
