I'm installing an Amsoil by-pass system on my 04' LLY and I'm wondering who of you out there has already installed one? The installiation looks easy enough and I'm ready but, here is my question. The two filters they sent me #SDF 26( Fleetguard #LF697) are supposed to be the only filters that will fit but I found the Fleetguard filter to replace one but, the other filter which is the by-pass filter BE-100 I can't see to cross reference it anywhere. Buying these filters through Amsoil is expensive to say the least. Has anyone found a filter to replace the BE-100?

BE100 are $22.85 each. You can use the Baldwin B50 I think but you will need to get and adapter. Call Kennedy Diesel. John use to have this stuff.

I posted a similar thread last week, but the only response was from Greg with thread size info on the full flow. I concluded there were not many alternatives for the full flow.
I did some searching for x-refs and found the following for the full flow:
Fram PH977A
Purolator L40017, L40107(?)
Motorcraft FL405, FL299(?)
None of these appear to be commonly used filters. I was hoping someone knew of a Mobil 1 filter that worked.
The full flow Amsoil filter retails around $20 and I think the preferred customer price is around $17 dollars (On Edit: Preferred price is$15, Thanks Greg). The Amsoil system can get costly if you are sticking to conventional oil with changes every 10k. Even with an extended drain, many appear to change the full flow every 10K. Oil Guard sells a high quality full flow filter that fits the Duramax for as low as $8. It would be great if someone knows of a readily available, lower cost, quality full flow filter that fits the Amsoil system.

Cost of the SDF26 that comes with the kit is $15.35. Again most any 3/4-16 threaded filter will work. The first one that comes to mind is the Fram PH8. All though I do not use Fram filters. Also Baldwin has one and I can't remeber what the number was.

Been using the Purolator L40017 for over 2 1/2 yrs. now. change every 7500. Buy them at advance auto for just over $7 a piece. Now, what can i use in place of the bypass filter?

Have you installed it yet? I have a custom made bracket that mounts the filter set-up to the frame with no drilling

Installed the Amsoil by-pass unit today and all seems to be fine. Had a small leak on one of the lines and a quick tighten fixed the problem. Didn't use synthetic oil this time as a precaution that if I had a leak I would loose the oil on the road so used Delo 400 15-40. If I have no problems I will use the spendy stuff next time around. 04'Max

Haven't figured that out yet. I know that Donaldson makes the filter for Amsoil but they are tight lipped about it and I'm on a mission to find a bypass filter that fits. The Amsoil by-pass filter is a good quality product though. Nothing wrong with trying to find a filter that fits that doesn't cost over twenty bucks!!!!! There is absolutely no cross reference with the BE filters.

You willnot find a by-pass replacement.
