: Bad wheel bearings cause loud squeeling?

This past week I have noticed a really loud squeeling comming from the front wheels but only when the truck turns left or right. It is much more noticible when the truck is cold and it comes from both sides, driver and passanger.
Today I finally had a chance to check it out and couldnt tell what it was when someone would drive in circles and I was looking to see where it was comming from. I jacked the truck up to get the wheels off the ground and noticed my wheel bearings were going bad by movement of the top and bottom of the tire, the drivers side is much more worse than the passanger side.
Would bad wheel bearings cause that squeeling noise while turning? I called my local dealer to get a price and they wanted nearly $500 just for the part per side so im going to try and find them elsewhere for cheaper.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

if they move that bad, it could of worn away a spot on the pad an hitting the brake squealers maybe?

They dont move that bad when I shake it but it definatly needs to be replaced, and I know what the noise is from when brakes wear out but this squeeling is LOUD:eek:

At the top of the main page, "Site Information", "Vendors Info & Specials", then part way down, "Timken Wheel Bearings...Price Drop!!!"

oh nice, I will be ordering some of those. but anyone know if the squeeling noise is from the bad wheel barrings? or I will just find out when I replace them.
I just find it hard to believe that both sides started squeeling at the same time.

How many miles are on the truck? have you jacked up each wheel and tried to push and pull at the 12 & 6 position? this will let you know how much play is in the bearing.
As they wear they begin to move enought o allow the rotor to touch the backing plate, this is the squeaking noise you get.

We have the best price on replacements if you need them:)

Once you get the parts to replace there is a nice write up in the DIY section..

A friend of mine had to have his replaced only a year after having the truck. He paid just over $1000. :( It was also an 06.

And any front wheel bearing out before 150k miles brings the braking system into question. Read this, especially post #3, mine http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3259365&highlight=bearing+brake#post3259365

yes they squeal when they go out, mine started intermittently while turning and then progressed to a constant squeal this was on my 05 with IIRC 46K on the clock
