Just picked up a banks 6 gun w/spd loader and was wondering if anybody had a set of instructions laying around that they could scan and send to me. It is a lb7. Any help would be appreciated.

Let us know what you think of the GUN.

I can't wait to get it on, I've been wanting it for a long time. Almost went with juice after reading so much about it here. But I am going to stick to my GUNS. Scotty I read that you had the dealer pull the manifold to install the pyro, how much did that cost? I know everyone does it with truck running, but I just am not 100% on that idea.

Good Morning ROH,

My name is Trennis Wright, Vista CA. I have installled the 6-G kit and had quite an experience. First, did you get your instructions? If you did, the most important sentence in the instructions is, "read these instructions completely before you begin" or something like that. The instructions are not the best written document I've seen. On or near the last step, you have to intercept the Transmission Control Module with a couple of wires and get them through the firewall with the main bundle. I missed this and had to take all the large rubber grommets apart inside and out twice. Let me assure you this is no easy task. If you have any questions let me know. Mine is up and running fine. I'm happy with the product.:grd::lol:

I bought it used from another member on this site, will probably get it end of next week or so. Didn't have instructions. I did download the instructions last night from bankspower.com, but have not read them fully yet. I will probably read them a couple times before I even get the 6gun, so at least I won't be so excited and want to go throw it on in a hurry.

My dealer charged me $140. Like I said, the installation was professionally done with them running the pyro line inside of a plastic loom attached to the firewall. For me, the time to lift the truck, pull the wheel, pull the fender liner, take off the manifold and tap the hole, clean the shavings, reinstall the manifold, insert the pyro and run the line to the firewall is WELL worth the $140 I spent. I wouldn't do it any other way. I meant to ask if you had the updated version of the GUN. Look at the number on the module. It is a good idea to read the instructions a couple of times to get familiar with the procedure. I didn't have any problems at all. The rubber grommet in the firewall doesn't have to come out. If you have any installation questions whatsoever, feel free to post them on this thread and I or someone else will help.

I didn't remove my exhaust manifold to install the pyro, but did what many dieselplace members have done, which is to drill/tap the manifold with the engine idling to blow any metal particles back out. I was able to move the fender liner out of the way to position the drill and tap, and it worked quite well. Yes, there is a risk of a particle damaging the turbo, and removing the manifold guarantees you this will not happen.

I installed my 6G/SL at 25,000 miles, now at 55,000 miles and runnin' strong.

I haven't got the gun yet it should be here end of next week. I called banks today to order a new thermocouple and my salesman was very helpful, (I have ordered with him before) he said talk to the tech people to make sure I got the right one. I will have to wait until I get it to order, don't know what version it is. I also asked him about upgrading, even though I didn't order it from them and it is used he said no problem, no charge. I have never had a problem with banks cust. service. Now I'm getting anxious to get it here and installed!:ro)

Waiting is the hardest part. I sent mine back 2nd day air for the upgrade. To my surprise, they also sent it BACK to me 2nd day air, even though I didn't mention that. They must of known I was anxious. Banks has always treated me right.

I've got a call into my local dealership's shop forman about the thermocouple, now I'm waiting for that!

Just talked to shop foreman at local dealership, he said no to doing the manifold for me. I guess I'll do it myself.

That's strange. Did he say why he didn't want to? If you pay the shop rate, all is fair.

Hundreds of people have drilled their pass side exhaust manifold using the Hoot Method.

If you are uncomfortable doing it, have a local diesel hot rod shop do it. I was sweating bullets when I did mine, and it came out perfect.

I took my truck down to a local 4x4 shop and they installed my thermocouple for $75 bucks. They just did the drill and tap and screwed it in. I connected the wires and ran everything into the truck. The drilling and tapping was the only part I wasn't comfortable with.

He just said it's something they have never done and don't want to. I had planned on doing it myself, I just know with my luck I'll ***** something up. I know I could take it somewhere to get it done, but at least if I did it I know I would take alot of extra time a precautions so I don't screw it up. I've got the tools, and the time just want to be damn sure I don't get anything in it.

From experiance, if you use a cordless drill, make sure the battery is fully charged. It also helps if you have someone with smaller hands help pull the wires through. Hubby and I have put ours on 3-4 times, no problems at all.

I varied slightly from the Hoot method, I hooked the discharge from a shop-vac to the exhaust and did NOT have the engine running. The shop-vac did an excellent job of blowing all material out where I was drilling/tapping.

Mine is gone right now for the update:( , I sure miss it!!!!!!
