: wont smoke after dsp5
nate_powell 05-15-2009, 05:47 PM I installed dsp5 yesterday, one of the tunes i put on there was joefarmers smoke tune, on an 02 lb7. I know the tunes were recieved, but this tune and another smoke tune i put on there arent even smoking. I used to blow huge amounts of black smoke before i upgraded to dsp5 with the same exact tunes, now it barely blows any, can anyone help me quick before i leave for truck night??
destroked dan 05-15-2009, 08:32 PM You need to make sure that one of the smoke tunes is you main tune. For instance if you have a stock tune as your main tune, all your MAF tables and limiting tables will have stock values....therefore no smoke.
nate_powell 05-16-2009, 12:48 AM ahhh i see, so can I still put a completely stock tune on one of the 1 through 4 programs?

no, not if you desire a smoke tune on DSP. It doesn't work that way.
vortecfcar 05-18-2009, 10:34 AM Tuning for smoke through DSP settings needs to be done with 'throttle base injection quantity' or 'main injection pulse' because the MAF tables are not available in the custom calibrations section of the tune.
The reason guys are telling you to put your smoke tune in the base setting is because it would force you to use an aggressive MAF limited injection table (table is only available in the base cal). Problem with this is that all of your other aggressive tunes will then become smoke tunes by virtue of the 'MAF limited injection' table being set up for smoke. You may or may not want this... If you don't, the custom cal DSPX 'throttle base injection' tables will need to be 'de-tuned' by pulling fuel out of the low RPM columns.
Hope this helps,
Nick

Most vendors include a tune with the purchase. So, I would buy one from them.
Talk to each vendor and see which one you like.

I think most do. But, it doesn't hurt to give him a shout and I'm sure he'll work with you. :)

X2 on Nick. Just picked my DSP5 setup from him a little over a month ago and regret not doing it sooner :D

There is another option now to consider.
At the moment it is only available through 05.

I'm going through this right now. There's no "throttle base injection quantity" in the LMM DSP folders. There is "torque based fuel" if that's what I need to change? Yes/No? Thanks!!
