Looks like the new infamous tranny fluid is avaiable now. Here's the info page:

I see they still need to update the product look up guide to show this new formula as the recommended fluid for GM Allison applications. I am sure that will get done on Monday.

Wonder if this will mix with torque shift ?

Yes it is compatible with other transmission fluids.

Looking at the specs between Torque-Drive and the new ATL I see some slight differences, but I admit I don't understand some of the numbers. What are the major differences and why is it important ?

I am going to be dropping by trans pan soon and currently use Torque-drive so I am curious about this fluid to use as a refill. I also use Torgue- Drive in the transfer case and wonder if the ATL would take the heat better and wear better?

Is Torque-Drive going to be discontinued?

No, the torque drive will not be discontinued as long as transynd is still made and recommended by allison.
Your basic difference is viscosity. All these manufacturers are trying to tweak fuel mileage out of the vehicles and thinning everything is one way to try and do it. Notice engine oils in many OEM's have gone from 30 weights to 20 weights now? Tranny fluids have done the same. Dex 6 is a "thinner" fluid. Same with Mercon's LV and SP.

Honestly, if you're using the TD, I would stay with it.
Allison and GM have created quite a mess with not agreeing on the same fluid. How's anybody supposed to know what to do. My take is I'd rather use the fluid that that the manufacturer of the tranny suggests vs. the guy just selling it.
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with any of them.

If someone was ambitious, maybe a "Sticky" in either the Fluids or Allison Section, (or both), labeled "Amsoil ATF Choices" would answer the 100's of questions about to be asked.

Which Amsoil ATF is best, (Low Viscosity, Universal, Torque Drive), in my trans?
Which Amsoil ATF is best, in my T-Case?
Can I mix?
What's the difference?
What's the life?
?
?
?
?

I agree. GM sure make it a Cluster F*** to determine what lubes to use.

I'm headed to corporate for a conference this week. Hopefully they'll have more information on this that can be shared.
Here is a Q&A on the new ATL vs. the ATF for your reading pleasure.
Q&A (https://www.amsoil.com/dealer/onevoice/OneVoice_ATL_ATF.pdf)
The torque drive is to be used for the same intervals Allison recommends with the transynd.
I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Good straight foreward answer ! Refreshing to see a dealer of a product not try and push something to a customer.

I agree with Heath Torque Drive is the best offering for an Allison Transmission the Amsoil has in the product line. If your using Torque Drive now stay with it. If your switching to synthetic fluids from conventional I will still recommend you use Torque Drive. If you don't want to use Torque Drive then the recommendation for the Allison will be this new fluid Amsoil ATL Transmission Fluid.

You mean as far as the method on how to do the tranny change? If thats the case do you want to do a flush change out or a pan drain?

If you don't have your source for Amsoil lined up yet I can save you some money.

If your talking about a flush which I suspect you are here is a great set of instructions on how to do it. Its very easy and clean if you follow these and have a friend help.

Thanks for the links! They are both very helpful!
I am already a PC, "dirtbikindad", it is a great program! The more I learn the more I like about Amsoil! Thanks!

Amsoil Tech Services Ed Kellerman told me 5 years ago when I was replacing the OEM fluid that the Universal ATF is a better fluid then Torque Drive. Now whether he would say that 5 years later, who knows, but I did put the Universal ATF in my truck. I am now trying to decide whether the thinner ATF is wise for towing purposes. The 5w-30 HDEO has served me very well, so I may switch to the new ATF at some point.
