pre-turbine through the raised boss in the neck of the manifold under the turbo.

QM: Could ya post a pic? I got a pyro on order, so I'll be putting it in next week.

This is a very rusty example of where the boss is. It's the little square dead center.

will 10' pyro wires be plenty long? And will I be able to drill that spot by removing the wheel well?

Should be more than enough. Just zip-tie the excess in a loop behind the dash.

I'm glad I haven't drilled mine yet! I started a thread on this very subject, read this thread... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27036 And see where they told me to drill it. Pre turbo where it is pictured in this thread makes the most sense to me. I just wish a GM engineer would chime in and give us all the "recognized location" for a probe location. The probe location that was posted in my thread is where Edge Juice wants it, and if I use another location, the Juice will get false readings??

I think the best thing to do is ask the manufacturer where they think it should go (if it was Duramax specific manufactured). If it's an EGT gauge that is universal, your guess is as good as mine.

I think a lot of it depends on accessiblilty. Everybody's truck is different. I have 2 locations. One is right before the turbo. The second and so far favorite one I just did a few days ago is on the driver's side right after the 90* downturn into the x-over but still in the manifold. Great accurate, fast readings!

Great accurate, fast readings!I think that's where i want to put mine too. did you get at it from the floor looking up, hood looking down, or did you pull the wheel well?

One other question for those of you who have a 95-99 truck... Will these 2-1/16" gauges fit in the accessory switch area between the radio and the dashboard gauge cluster? If you drill a 2" hole? Anybody have any pics of gauges installed there?

Hey Quantum, I was about to install my 2nd pyro probe in the location pictured with my new engine but I'm changing my mind. I want to know how much more of a pain in the a$$ it will be to install and remove the heat shield covering the injector lines/return? Do you remove your probe when working in this area? Thanks!

On a related note, that same boss is on both sides of the exhaust manifold, I think that there is enough room to mount the probe on the fender well side without conflict as opposed to the valve cover side. I'll probably end up mounting it on the side facing the radiator, there is still enough meat there to tap (I hope).

Have a 3" body lift which helps, but I just jacked up the driver's side of the truck to allow the tire to go to full droop, bent the corner of the fender towards me and did it there no problem, except for my tap breakingCensored (See: Tragedy Narrowly Averted thread). Taking the tire completely off would probably compensate for lack of body lift.

My Isspro pyro arrived today with no instructions for tapping the manifold. Couldn't find instructions on the Isspro webpage either.

What size hole do I drill in the manifold? What size tap do I use? I don't see any markings or size description on the coupling that gets turned into the tapped hole.

Thanks.
