My water in fuel message came on, took it to the dealer and he cleaned the tank and changed the filter, twice.
The message is still on. Is there a reset for this message?
Thanks

I'd take it back to the dealer, he should have taken care of the light. Cleaning fuel tanks don't come cheap. Was there any proof of how much water you had in the tank, that is was the last few gallons of fuel taken out, glassed for water. Soundfs like you had enouigh to question your fuel supplier and ask him to check his tank. About four yesr ago I got water in my gasser and the station where I traded at the time picked up the bill for dropping the tank and flushing the fuel system.

Thanks Skoryaro, They replaced the sensor.
Bill, They had the thing put back together by the time I got there. They just said there was "lots of rust and water in the tank". I buy fuel at several stations. All sell lots of fuel. I have no real person to point my finger at.
I was just wondering if there was a reset in in the computer. The dealer does not seem to think so. There is no water in fuel now as I have drained the filter a couple of times an found nothing.
Thanks
Steve

I just changed my filter and my sensor was broke!!? It was working fine to the best of my knowledge with no lights going off. I did not break it, it was already broke.

Steve, One Observation and One question.
1. It takes a butt load of water to set off the sensor.
2. In 3 hours and 33 minutes from your first post, you got a dealer to replace your sensor and were back home in time to post new message. DUDE that was one fast service trip!!!!!! What dealership was that???????

Doug, The water in fuel message went off so I took it to the dealer. They said it had a lot of water and debris in the fuel, I am not so sure. The next AM the water in fuel message was back on so I took it back a few days later. They changed the filter and sensor this time. On the way home the water in fuel is back on.
I'm thinking there has to be a reset that they are not doing.
Sorry if I was not clear on the time frame.

There is no "reset" for the WIF light - the circuit is built into the float in the sensor. If the float is in the proper spot after replacing the filter, the light should go off. I learned about this when I installed the Racor frame-mounted filter, it also has a WIF sensor and I had to manually hold up the float and verify that the WIF light was illuminated on the dash (it taps into the same circuit as the factory WIF sensor). I'm sure you could do this with the factory sensor too while you have the filter removed - reconnect the wires, turn on the ignition (don't try to start it!) and hold up the float. WIF light should illuminate......

Try disconnectingn the sensor wire, if light goes out that would be an indication the sensor is bad.You can varify sensor is bad by disconnecting the little sensor cable and putting an ohm meter on the sensor wire plug, not the plug/wire going into thre harness. If the light doesn't go out its an indicacation one of the harnnese wires is shorted to ground. My theory is that one of the sennsor wires is connected to ground while the other doesn't ground untill water in the sensor activates the switch. In summary one side of bulb is connected to battery positive and the other side to to ground thru the sensor. When the sensor works right it causes the negative side of the bulb to be grounded. Hope this helps. I might be wrong to.
check the wiring at the front of fuel injection control module it tends to rubb through where it turns down to plug into the module repaired several for water light staying on it rubbs on the bracket

When mine was new, the WIF light was on very often. Dealer couldn't figure it out. I replaced the sensor, problem solved.
