: DMAX Exhaust for 6.5
Heavychevy78 05-13-2009, 10:59 AM I saw a post while browsing about a guy tha took his friends stock dmax exhaust and used it on his 6.5 for a custom 3.5 inch. im wanting some thoughts and opinions on this situation cause it really is a lot cheaper if its as easy as he says it is.
Cutlass84 05-13-2009, 11:19 AM why not post in that thread instead of starting a new one??

Seriously... :agreed:
BlueBurby1 05-13-2009, 12:57 PM or at least give us a link in here, so I don't have to go searching to see what your talking about?

BlueBurby1 05-13-2009, 01:52 PM shush, I wasn't looking for it at the time, and I realized that later. oh well, could have been worse...RC could have come in screaming search :p:
Dieseldad97 05-13-2009, 01:58 PM why not post in that thread instead of starting a new one??
Why? Some guys like to keep their threads their own. I've seen guys hijack a thread and members give them a hard time about it. Just a thought.
Heavychevy78 05-13-2009, 02:14 PM thanks dieseldad97! Im kind of a newbie so i need all the slack I can get. Im just a man asking for thoughts on something
BigBlueChevy 05-13-2009, 02:57 PM Wow
I saw this and firgured it was in the DMAX part of the forum. People amaze me.
Heavychevy78 05-13-2009, 04:08 PM Thats why the title of the thread reads the way it does. it involves both vehicles but pertains mostly to the 6.5 logic would tell MOST that. I try to do things right but bash me you wont
jjw565 05-13-2009, 06:30 PM I think the title makes it obvious what the question is, not sure why people have a problem with this thread, its seems valid to me. I'll assume they are just ribbing you a bit..
Can't say I have any experience with DMAX exhaust but anything is better than the stock 6.5 exhaust because the soot trap gets clogged and it chokes your motor. I am sure whatever the DMAX uses is much better but the best would be just a straight pipe if you don't care about emissions :)
DMAX muffler is probably pretty decent too if you don't like the drone of a straight pipe.

:D
WHY DON'T YOU SEARCH ALREADY!? :D Happy now, Pete?
Seriously, I feel some tension in this thread. I can see how the pipes under the truck could be used, since almost anything could be, but as they're asking in that thread, I'd like to know how the downpipe was done.
Brooklyn tow 05-13-2009, 06:51 PM I'd like to know how the downpipe was done.
Thats what I asked!

I cut the pipe just before the cat and used the flared portion of a 3" pipe and the 3.5" id pipe and slid them together and welded them up. I'll post pics when I can figure out how to do it. Computers are not my strong point.
it would seem he made a catback system from a duramax truck,..

Heavychevy78 05-14-2009, 12:24 PM Has anyone else done this or know of someone that did?
tinbanger 05-19-2009, 01:20 PM so? whats the deal do the duramax exhaust bolt up or what?
GSXR600 05-19-2009, 07:11 PM why spend the time trying to fit up a DMAX exhaust instead of just going out and buying a 4'' for pretty much the same price???
tinbanger 05-19-2009, 10:24 PM why spend the time trying to fit up a DMAX exhaust instead of just going out and buying a 4'' for pretty much the same price???
because i can get a free full D-max exhaust from my old work( a 4x4 shop) and save 500 bones for my fathers company on his work truck to make it more reliable.. my father doesn't like to spend money. and as a fabrication shop, making it fit isn't a problem.
its not a HP thing, its a reliability thing.
stingthieves 05-19-2009, 11:50 PM I did it too because the Dbux system was new and free. I used a flowmaster down pipe and welded on a 3 to 4 inch adapter to begin -- from there I cut apart almost everything and put it back together in a configuration that fit to my preference because it won't fit any other way.
Without a hoist and wire welder -- what a night mare' Shame on the folks that said it worked (fit well) several years ago when I did this.
put the dmax system on ebay and buy one that is already fit -- unless you handy and want a challenge!
Now -- are we done picking on this guy?
