When mine went out, it just needed a whole new lever. The little wires in the switches were just old. Replaced the whole turn signal, wiper, cruise...lever.

If you really wanted to, you could take it apart and check the soldered connections. I would have done that, but I found one for $20. They are normally around 60 or so.

'97 is electrically controlled, vacuum is not involved. Check all fuses and relay's.

I believe that the two may if fact be related. I seemed to have read here that cruise stops working with some of the DCT codes, just not sure with ones.

Check your wires going from the engine compartment to the EMC under the coolant tank. ;)

I have a question - we have a 92 6.2 that has cruise control that doesn't work, Nate has messed around with all the wiring he changed the turning signal lever but it still doesn't work. Could have something to do with his vacumm. When he drives it the Service Engine Light come off and on - I don't know what the RPMS are when it is on or off because I don't drive it regularly and it doesn't have a RPM gauge - any imput on this.

The older trucks had a cruise control module under the hood. You can't miss it, it has the second throttle cable coming out of it.

The box is mounted on the driver's side firewall next to the winshield wiper moter, on mine anyways.

Carey i checked the wires going to the PCM , and coming out the firewall to the filter housing. Unless i missed something, that aint it.
Thanks anyways
