I am impressed with this Predator. I am sure that most of you out there are way beyond this, but I just had to let someone know. I finally married this thing to the truck today. Figured out how it works, with all of its funny quirks for loading tunes. I'd love to go beyond 40Hp, but I did notice that the EGT's are running higher, and I am impressed with the low end this thing gives the truck just on 40HP. I hope that it will help increase the fuel milage. I'll be happy if I get 2 or so miles per gallon more. Plus, this is as close as I can afford to a Tech2 scan tool, those things are not exactly cheap. I just wanted to say Thank You to all of you for your input to my questions, be they stupid or not.

I check this site all the time now, and get lots of info all the time. You guys are the greatest.:)

Everybody has to start somewhere! I'm new to this game as well, but when you think about it, 40 HP at the rear wheels is a considerable gain!

You can turn wrenches on a Chevy 350 all day long and HOPE to gain that much after a lot of go-fast parts and tuning.

Hey man, I love how my truck runs on the 40hp setting. No egt problems, and I gained a solid 1.5 mpg. I've tried the higher setting, but they run hot and my wonderful DMF flywheel likes to make noise on anything above the 40 hp setting. Anyhow, enjoy the predator, i know i have!!:ro)

I ran the predator for a while myself. The tunes on my early box v1.8 all make good numbers as reported on Kennedy's dyno. However on my 03 it would set an overboost code from time to time, which is supposedly fixed on the newer revisions, Ive just never sent it in for the updates. It is a good box with a lot of additional features for a nice price.

I've also got the juice, but only run that in tow/haul when I want to play.

I run both. I like the pred 40 tune with the Juice from 0 to 5. If you ask me the trucks should perform like they do with the pred 40 tune from the factory.

The 65HP setting is almost twice as fun! It runs cool enough unless your pulling something massive. Can't say I notice a MPG increase though. Maybe its because I am always looking for a reason to put my foot into it.
I tried the 85HP setting but its not as smooth and it feels like it could break something.
I haven't had any codes pop up (I do have the latest rev box).

I have run this tune for a couple of days now. I really like it. Its just amazing that 40HP gives that much of a difference. If the factory tune is required to use this Predator, then I am wondering if the unit sets up different tunes for different factory tunes or flashes. In other words, if one truck has a say version 2.4.3 flash, and the another identical truck has a version 2.4.4 flash, would the Predator in turn setup different tunes for each truck based on the version of flash they have?

Back when we picked up this truck new, it ran great and was quite quiet. After the #7 injector was replaced at 9200 miles, the truck made more noise than before. I attributed this to a reflash that the tech did before the injector was replaced. Since loading the 40Hp tune from the Predator, the truck is running really great. It has a hell of a lot more power, runs smoother, and quieter, and the stink pipe seems to stay cleaner. I am wondering if the Predator has brought back in the pre injection like it had when new. Nonetheless, the truck is just right for me now.

So you say that the bottom end power has come alive with the 40 hp. I always see the power increases advertised and always wondered how much of the added power is down low where these trucks usually are at crusing speeds.

coluldnt have said it better myself! I triedthe 85 hp setting after I installed my gauges,, and it just didnt feel right, like you said, kind alike i was tearing itup. i went back to the 40 tune, smooth and strong. I never did see any mpg gains on the 65... hopefully the 40 will kick up a point or 2.
