To take truck to dealer that is. Had to program the stock tune back in because I have some warranty work that needs to be done and man, do I miss the Predator. I only run the 65hp program, it's surprising how you can get addicted to the added HP.

I loaded the 100hp tune today for some overdrive lockout tow haul mode testing, and its sure gonna be hard going back to the 65hp tune. Looks like im gonna have to save up for a tranny upgrade.

That's funny. I tried the 65hp program on my '05 dmax and HATED it. The shifting was rough and harsh sometimes and other times, very weak and flat (almost hit my head on the steering wheel from a very long delayed shift). I'm not rodding it or anything. I went to the 40hp tune, and it is GREAT. Night and day difference. Not sure if it is the learning on the transmission (I have less than 500 miles on the truck) or what. I'll try the 65hp setting again later. I didn't think the Predator would screw with the transmission shifting. I also need to get my boost and pyro gauges in this weekend before towing with any adjusted horse power...

jhondra,
it was definitely the allison learning, she's real sensitive with a new program.

It takes a few hundred miles to get the learning done. Just dropped mine to 40 because she will be doing some work this weekend and I don't have gauges... Don't lose faith in the 65!

Guys, It takes about 20 miles to "teach your tranny!! You just have to stop and start a lot and the tranny will learn real quick. The mileage is irrelevant, it is the number of shifts that matters. You will be very happy once it learns. Tow haul mode needs to learn as well, separately. Find a road you can accelerate on, slow to a stop and repeat, it will only take a few times and you are set, then drive it around town and VOILA!!! all kinds of enjoyable new HP/TQ. Repeat for T/H mode

I drive 100 miles/day and don't have the time nor desire to complete the method above, therefore, it takes a while for mine to learn, which is about 200 miles or so.

I'm not impressed on the 65 level either, still shifts bad in the around town driving but is smoother if you give it lots of peddle. The engine rattles something awfull as well. Almost seems like the fuel cuts out between shifts
I'm going to try the 40 level and if that isn't any nicer I'll give an Edge a try

Phew...I thought it was just me. Everyone I had read on a couple other forums said they liked the 65 setting for fuel mileage and power. But mine was attrocious. Nasty sounding engine noise and VERY bad shift manerisms. I went to the 40 (or 45...whatever) setting and it is purring like a kitten with very nice shifts. I hadn't thought about the tow-haul mode, but after reading here that the tranny needs to be trained in that mode too, I tried that real quick tonight (before we go pulling this weekend). Well, it was a bit abrupt and bad shifting for a couple start/stops, but settled in quick...

Thanks! This forum is great!

Now if I can just get a finger stick with connectors ():h ) and a blocker plate!
