: DPF regeneration
i just has few question about the DPF regen.
i know that 07 and up have regen program in ecm.
what about 06 lly and lmm have built in program to regen?
if the truck came with DPF does it mean that it has regen programed?
socal2ks 05-09-2009, 01:37 AM Only the lmm 2007.5+ has a dpf, which has a regen occurrence .
All the other trucks do not have a regen.

socal2ks 05-09-2009, 02:26 AM Your lly has a dpf?
Pics?
yes it did, i removed it. may be because it is california emission?
just want to know because 2010 us californians will be doing smog check for diesel.
i may have to put it back on

I never heard of an 06 with a DPF
they started in 07 nbs.
steakman 05-09-2009, 08:10 AM DPF was initiated with the LMM engine series I do believe and only found on NBS trucks. This is also for me, first time I hear of dpf on an older engines series, particularly an LLY.?? I have an lbz - later model...& no such on my truck.! If in fact dpf was on LLY, it sure as hades would be on all the lbz's too. dont ya think.??
Might you be mistaken on something here..??
cheers,
stk

I know what I have. The truck in 06 with zf6 lly truck from what i told was that only different was the ecm program. It is same everything like LBZ.
Back to my question I know that LMM has regen.
I was just wondering if My truck had same program?
I think I don't have the regen program, because I have not heard anyone mentioning it. Then how would it clean out dpf?
Right now I have it off, but I need to put it back on becauce of the smog check. But same time I don,t want to plug it up???
Did you take the cat off you don't have a DPF unless you have a LMM and don't know what you drive. Get some pics of your so called DPF you removed

here is pic of my emission label
it is 2006 with CATALYST

Mine has the same label but my truck is a 07 LBZ. The catalyst is A.KA. catalystic converter. Your truck like mine does not have or did come with a DPF. The DFP is a filter not a catalyst is removes soot from the exhaust gases leaving the engine there for no smokey.
03LB-7dmax 05-09-2009, 11:55 AM somthing is not right,in that pic.See the advertised H.P.....300??? that was only on the LB7. LLY went to 310 H.P.
Is that label off a van??????
pa32rt 05-09-2009, 11:58 AM A friend just got a new-to-him '06 2500. It has an LB7 also. I don't know if it was just an option (less $??) or what. Wierd. I thought all '06s would be LBZ.
And DPFs STARTED on LMMs. No previous motors had it, as has already been mentioned. Mr. SMOG is thinking of the DOC.
socal2ks 05-09-2009, 12:35 PM Smog,
If you decode your vin# you will be able to tell what engine you have.

The eighth digit, anyway.
coldLBZ 05-09-2009, 01:17 PM Smog, your 06 does not have a DPF, just a cat. pa32rt, your friends 06 either has the LLY or LBZ, the motors are physically the same but with different programming.

It's got a ZF6 which only came in the 300 hp version.
The 06 LLY autos were rated at 310 hp.
It had a cat, not a DPF just like all 2006 trucks.

There is no LB7 in a 06,its either a LLY/LBZ.LB7 endded in mid 04.

Never knew that..Thanks:cool:
pa32rt 05-09-2009, 07:03 PM Ah. He told me LB7, but I would be you guys are right that it's a LLY.
saratoga 05-09-2009, 09:50 PM It is an 06 LLY... that's the only 2006 (and last) engine that was available with the ZF6. The LBZ was not available with a manual in a pickup.
...and it still didn't have a DPF.

so cat and DPF are different : does anybody have pic for the lmm emission lable???
Jasondt2001 05-10-2009, 11:16 AM With all due respect - YOU DO NOT HAVE A DPF!!!
There is NO way someone would buy one to put it ON a older model truck ( for one reason they're a nuisance and another is they're ungodly expensive), and they DID NOT put them on trucks until the new body style (07.5 model year).
If it makes you feel any better I have an 07 and I DONT have a dpf - DONT.
I could understand how you could get the 2 mixed up though. Both go before the muffler and look somewhat similar without all the connections.
Jasondt2001 05-10-2009, 11:22 AM I know what I have. No sir, you do not. The truck in 06 with zf6 lly truck from what i told was that only different was the ecm program. It is same everything like LBZ.
Back to my question I know that LMM has regen.
I was just wondering if My truck had same program? It's not possible, the REGEN function came in a operating (and even an ECU if i remember correctly) system COMPLETELY different from what's available at that time.
I think I don't have the regen program, because I have not heard anyone mentioning it. Then how would it clean out dpf?

You took off the cat converter, you will have to put it back come emissions time. Actually and technically removing the catalytic converter even NOW before emissions is illegal if someone wanted to knit-pick.
Do you by chance have an aftermarket exhaust that's confusing you?

Yes they are look alike> thats where my confustion came in, because they are so much talk about regen and DPF (how the new tuners are able to turn off the regen)
just simple question about the regen and my truck
I KNOW NOW THAT THEY ARE NOT SAME
thanks for all your info
:):):)
Jasondt2001 05-10-2009, 11:33 AM hey man, NO problem!! I'm really glad I could I could help! :thumb:
The only reason I was so sure is I was deathly affraid of the DPF when i bought my truck so I went with the old body style (which is ok, because i really liked it). Although other than hurting fuel milage there doesn't seem to be to many problems with them.

That's what I'm thinking too. I never heard of a dpf on anything other than LLM 's ,07.5 and beyond.

Never heard of an LLM?
RI Chevy Silveradoman 05-10-2009, 12:55 PM smog:
The CAT is up front next to the turbo downpipe (under the passenger seat), and the DPF's are further back next to the muffler. The tuners just do not allow the ECM to go into a regen mode. Electronically disable the function.

The Edge "RACE EVO" does.On demand regen.

Or allow to do a regen on Demand! ;)
