Hello all,
This has happened a couple of times; I start the truck in the morning, a couple of seconds afterwards a Low Oil Pressure warning comes on for a second before it goes out, then I see the Oil Pressure gauge come up very quickly.
Is this something I need to be concerned about?
I use Delo 400 oil with K & N Oil Filters. My rig is a 2002.

Did this problem start after you started using the K&N oil filter? Are you using the right oil filter for a Duramax? Change it to an AC Delco PF2232 and see if your problem goes away. You can change just the filter, let it sit for a couple of hours and then change it and top off the oil with about a quart.

What he said. Also how cold is it and are you plugged in when this happens?

mine only does that when i change the oil filter... i would switch to a delco filter like ratlover suggested and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies,
I don't plug in, I live in Southern Ca so the weather never gets cold enough. I've been using the K & N for about 10,000 miles but this problem has come up within the last week or so. Never been happy with these filters though, can never get a good seal, they always seem to leak a few drops.
I will go ahead and change the filter to a Delco see if it gets any better - (How about Mobil 1 filters, any good?) - Darn...I bought a whole case of these K & N's

The AC Delco filters are great filters. They filter well and have a very strong case. They are the filter designed for these engines. Some others are only filters that "fit".

As info, I've been using Mobil Delvac1 and their M1-303 filter with no problems.

I have also been using the Mobil M1-303 filter. I think I am on my 3rd 303 and no problems to date.

Check to see if diesel is present in your oil. Pull dip stick and put a drop of the oil on a paper towel. If a light colored ring extends from the main oil drops center then there may be diesel in your oil. I have seen oil pressure drop from this which is caused by faulty injectors.

You might want to check your wiring for fully seated connections or pinched wires. I had a pin in the large connector on the top of the engine on the left side that was not seated properly when the vehicle was manufactured and after 24K Mi it decided to come loose. After getting it put back together it is necessary to clear the codes to get everything working properly.

My '02 doesn't have a warning for low oil pressure. I know this after my injectors went you 3-18 and oil pressure went below 20psi. Odd.
