Well I'm getting my first diesel. 01 3500 Crew Cab 4x4.
I decided to get a diesel b/c I plan on getting a toy hauler.
The truck is clean with all the options that I want.

It has 96,000 miles. The injectors were changed last year
at 78,000 and recently the fuel rail pressure sensor was replaced.

I'm nervouse and excited at the same time. The injectors are warranteed
to 200K/7yr so that is a rock off my shoulders. What else should I worry about.

I plan to replace all the filters and fluids. I would like to go all AMSOIL.

Is there anything after market to get to prolong life. Life extra filters, etc.?

I hope if I keep up on the maintenance I can get 100K miles out of it.
Allison trannies are good so I'm not really worried about that. I might put Amsoil fluid in it.

SO what do you guys recommend for the newbie.

Do a search. you will learn a lot. BROKER has sold ~ four duramax with over 350K miles. Look into a pre-oem fuel filter. I run Amsoil dual remote bypass oil filter and have about 15-16K miles on the oil and it still tests well. Lubespecialist sells these kits and his oil, list time I looked, had 20K miles on it.

If you decide to do a chip/power module stay on low power unless you are willing to spend big $ fro a tranny upgrade. Normal maintenance should make it last a long, long time. good luck.

So look into the Extra Fuel filter. I hear about these oil testing kits.
I was wondering if you guys sent smaples out or if you just buy a kit.
Guess I need to buy a kit.

I do not plan to modd it. I think it has enough power for me and
I want it to last.

thanks.

Then don't ever read the "power and performance" section, or the "competition forum" here. And don't ever let anyone loan you a Juice.

Your words are exactly the famous last words of quite a few of us here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

All downhill from there I guess http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif but it's been a heck of a ride!

Ditto on what Seth said. I just had my oil done by the local CAT dealer for $13.50 They give you a plastic bottle, go home and fill it up send it in and they send the results in 24 hours. If you don't have a CAT dealer nearby, try a Kensworth or any other truck repair center. That pretty much take care of the general engine needs. Keep the stock air filter. Amsoil dual remote oil filter and Nicktane(fuel) are good choices.

From here, depending on how much money you have, you can go exhaust, programers, gauges etc. etc. etc.

Good luck on your new ride..........RON

Thanks guys. I was able to look up the AMsoil Dual remote system.
Is it hard to install?

How often do you guys check your oil?

Why not just change it every 12,000 if you use the filters plus Amsoil?

What about the fuel filter. You guys recomend adding an aftermarket
fuel filter too.

Best advice I can give: DO NOT fill the fuel tank with gasoline.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
