.......wow, I love these H2's, and boy they are kinda heavy to lug around. Called Justin at Cognito today, got everything ordered and paid for, said he would ship it out tomorrow and ill have it first thing Thursday Morning. Got a buddy who is gonna do the lift install for me Friday, so Friday evening it all should be finished and ill post the pics. I went ahead and ordered the dual-shock kit for the front with 2 bilsteins on each side due to installing a Ranchhand bumper replacement in the near future, so hopefully they will look good on there........now if Thursday and Friday will hurry and get here!:ro)

Oh, and where do you guys with H2 Spares put it, under the truck? Or like some of those "bed" mounts ive seen, do you put it in the back of your truck mounted at an angle?

Runninghorn,

I just bought a spare off Ebay. Wasn't sure where I would put it so I tried installing it in place of the stock spare. It fits there but is close to the pumpkin, maybe about 2" clearance.

those look pretty cool, but suddenly, you don't have a pickup anymore. as soon as you want to put a sheet of plywood in there, you'll have to borrow your buddy's half ton -:t .

my 5th h2 with 315 fit in spare spot no prob. i do not have a factory rear bumper, so i'm not sure if that opened things up for me. i'm right next to the pumpkin, and i had to push it a couple inches from exhaust before tightening the rubber up against the frame.

btw... i am smu may '96 grad.

Like I said if you ever need a shop for any projects, the offer still stands. BTW I like the spare carrier.

Since you’re building it, you need to reinforce the bed under the mounts. A friend and I where playing in the mud he hit some ruts hard. He had a tire carrier like that one and the whole thing ripped lose from his bed.

Stacy on trucks! mounted one of those. When he was trying to tear the truck up the spare mount bounced right out of the truck! Definetly put some straps under the bed where the bolts go through.

ya I saw that episode, that thing just tore right out and bounced away. In a later episode he said that the companywas going to include a different mounting system because of what had happened. -Jeff

That is what I was talking about, take some 1/8" strap 1 1/2" wide drill holes in it and that would create more surface area. Plus it would be alot stronger than the bed. Or you could use a bolt from the bed of a new Furd, they seem quite strong, one holds the truck up suspended in air.-:t

I wouldn't waste the $$ just put it in the bed. That’s just one more thing you have to deal with. I was wondering with that leveling kit what if you wanted to put on a 4" or 6" lift later on would you have to take off your leveling kit or would it interfere in anyway?

hmmm not sure. My last truck had an 8" lift with 38's and got a little tired with that. This is a true 3" lift, and I really like it. Brings it up nicely on the H2's, but not too much to where it's a pain to get in and out, just right.

No, the kit can stay with any lift. Won't interfere with anything.
