I have a 2005 Crew Cab 3500 single axel. I want to put a 4inch exhaust on, but I don't want the extra sound. Any suggestions. I was thinking of going with the MBRP or Siliverline.
Thanks for the help--Cory

If you are looking to do and exhaust but don't want the noise, do a cat back 4". It is barely noticeable until WOT, and you will gain about 60% of what you would have with a full turbo dp back. If you need a turbo dp back system, look into Diamond Eye with quiet tone front pipe or a Flowmaster Hushpower cat back with a MBRP front pipe. Let me know if I can help.

is the diamond eye quiet tone front pipe and 4"back kit any louder than stock exhaust with cat but with no muffler, thats what i have now and i want a 4" system no cat but dont want it real loud? and do you lose power or have higher temps with the quiet tone dp versus a regular after market dp cat delete? Thanks

I bought a 4 inch Magna Flow Cat back from Alligator Diesel Performance. As quiet as the stock
exhaust. Nice fit easy install.

It is a bit louder, but not nearly as loud as a catless front pipe. You will not lose any hp and higher EGT's with this pipe, as it is just a long muffler with no interior restriction.

I have the diamond eye turbo back with the tone pipe and love it. Not loud at all in the cab, but still sounds great.

I have the Quiet tone down pipe on my lb7. I straight piped it because the drone was so bad with the muffler. It freaking rocks. All the noise is in the rear. Its as close to stock as I have found.

I have the turbo back MBRP and it is not noticeably louder in the cab. Have no idea out back how loud it is, but don't really think it is much louder there either.

i was wonder more about from the back or ourside the truck in general cause i drive around our hunting land alot and take it hunting and i dont want a loud truck that will scare of stuff. my friend has the same truck as me but hes cut off both the cat and muffler and when he drives by, the jet like sound is pretty loud. i like it but i just cant have that on this truck. thats why i was hoping the quiet tone front pipe would help elimanite that like the cat does.

okay guys, i have a very dumb question because i have no clue when it comes to anything mechanical but i understand a bigger exhaust is a good thing for us '05 duramax guys, especially with 5th wheel's, and all stock. i don't want loud. i do want improved performance. and i do want one exhaust system that goes right in that i don't have to remove any other parts. is there such a thing? it seems like the mbrp 4" is the thing. i am trying to learn.

I did a Banks intake and 4" exhaust. The only sound increase I hear is when I am laying into it. No drone, nothing that will wake the neighborhood. And got 3/4 mpg improvement. Lost the kitty and still no major change in sound.

MBRP Cat Back is a good choice. I hear mine alittle around town, but on the highway, you won't even notice it. Easy install if you sawzall the original off.

Moved to Fuel System, Air, Exhaust, & Emissions Upgrades...

As for a good exhaust system... I love mine - Silverline 4" "turbo back" (which is really downpipe back). No cab drone, really nice sound outside.
