I have an '05 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Ext. Cab with 4x4 and 37k miles. I was running Hummer H2 Limited wheels and the BGF 315/70/17 AT TKO tires. I had left the stock keys and leveled the truck and then did a custom front bumper mount to remove the filler space and some minor front valance trimmming and nothing rubbed. I have the standard Bilstein HD shocks and the 1st gen Frederico F/R sway bars with a Volant exhaust. The wheels and tires were stolen in Dallas on Tuesday and the truck is recovered with GM steel wheel and some worn out tires. While it is in the body shop I wanted to address the vehicle ride since it was harsh. For the most part, the truck is used as a daily driver and then maybe 5% to haul a 28-foot enclosed car trailer with car. I have never been nor plan to be off-road. I have a garage opening that is no taller than 80-inches. I was reading post after post and wondered if the Cognito leveling kit would restore the ride quality, assuming that the insurance company purchased identical wheels and tires. There are about 10k on the current HD Bilsteins. Ufortunately, with the wheel/tire combo I can't tell how tall it was but I probably had about 1 inch of clearance to get into the garage at the most. I don't think that a 4" lift will fit unless I reduce the diameter of the tire by the offsetting amount. Seeing that I already fit with the wheel/tire package that was stolen would the Cognito leveling kit on stage 2 (with current Bilstein's) or a stage 3 with the 5100's ride better? I have also heard that a Racho lift set at 2" also rides great. Since the truck is down, now is the time to order the parts so I could get the same shop to install. Recommendations?
