Half the indicator button lights(vol, 2,3,5,6 and seek) in the factory stereo are out. I suspect that its just a single bulb that went out back there. I called the dealer and was told that the stereo has to be pulled and they have to send the whole unit to GM just to replace the bulb. Sounds hokey to me

Alki,

I assume you are in the Seattle area. Call Isspro in Kent and see if they can help out. It would cost you, but they may be able to repair for you. They are an authorized Delco repair center. Located just south of 180th and one block east of West Valley Highway about a mile southe of the Southcenter Home Depot.

If your truck is out of warranty, PM me and I can help you take the unit apart to replace the bulb if you want.

After I bought my 01 Duramax a month ago I found out that all the radio lights were burnt out, the local radio shop wanted 200.00 to repair it or 8.00 per bulb ( there are 10 lights in it !!). After searching the net I found the following web site that sells the light for 20.00 for all 10 and they even tell you how to change the bulbs. I changed my bulbs with no problem.

Actually thats what the dealer will do. While you can fix it on your own, if you don't have the know-how the stealer will have to remove and send out to repair. They will not fix them at the stealer. I said screw it and left mine alone and believe it or not and I don't know how but they actually came back on slowly but surely two at a time.

My radio lights are ok, but I've lost 3 lites on my AC controls. Are these the same bulbs?

Thanks,
MaxRock

My '03 with the in-dash CD changer had an unlit button. It turns out that the bulb was "weak", not burned out. I ultimately took it to the dealer and got a new radio under warranty. Took them 3 hours to get it flashed correctly, but that's a different story.

I managed to get the radio disassembled and gave up when I realized I didn't know where to get a new bulb. In this radio, if you have one bulb out, there are 2 bulbs out, because every bulb is in series with another. (A great feature: if one bulb burns out you lose 2 lights. Probably a case of a beancounter with cheap 6 volt bulbs overruling the engineer). Somebody posted a web site with bulbs, http://www.corvetteradios.com/Page7.html (http://www.corvetteradios.com/Page7.htm), but it says they're only to model year '02, so these might not be the right bulbs for '03+.

I have a button with paint flaking off, and the solution is the same: replace the radio.
