Can someone tell me in simple terms how the Copilot works? Also will it work in the 05 Duramax with LLY engine? Thank you.

well im not completely straight on the internal workings of it but i do know that it has a main level the controls how much line pressure you clutches see and a sub level which contols at what boost you TC locks.

it really makes a heck of a difference in T/H mode cause it will knock down lightning fast shifts. some say the co-pilot is worth .1-.2 at the drag strip

as far as i know if will work with any model D/A truck

Basically what Ryan said. Two levels of adjustment, so you can make it shift like stock or fast and solid enough to bark the tires between 1-2 and 2-3! It is basically an awesome shift kit if i understand correctly with a tranny controller. I am not sure what all is done to the tranny but I do know the valve body is r&r and a different spring is put in somewhere and I think something gets drilled out to up the line pressure. Would highly recommend if you can't afford to go for the whole tranny yet and need something to get you by (since the whole tranny doesn't have to be removed)!

I agree with Ryan.....well almost. :D

As Ryan and I understand it The Co-Pilot's "main level" adjusts how much line pressure is sent to the clutch packs and internals of the trans.
This is driver configurable. :bounce:

As I understand it The "sub level" adjusts when this pressure is sent based on boost.
This is also driver configurable. :bounce:

For best results the trans should be pulled and the main line pressure increased along with installing the Co-Pilot, clutches, triple converter etc.

When in Tow/Haul mode the Co-Pilot is supposed to lock the converter earlier than stock, and keeps it locked during shifting through out an acceleration run.

Hope this helps! :D

the reason i notice the shifts more in T/H is because of the TC lockin so quick. the shift with it off are also very quick and firm but u just cant feel em as much.

As Mtomac says:
"Lock it and Rock it" :ro)

And looking at your location you can get a ride in a Full ATS equipped truck soon.

I agree with both of them but I have one thing to add. The co-pilot only fools the stock TCM into locking the T/C "full time" when it is put into drag race mode. That requires you to hold down your up arrow on the controller untill all 5 LED's are lit, then the co-pilot will keep the T/C locked during full power, ect... untill then the TCM will still unlock the T/C under certain conditions.
