Has anyone had any problems with there rpm gauge acting up? Mine works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt...

Tanc Crusher 05-03-2009, 03:02 PM Well Sounds like a stepper motor issue. Only thing else is I have had whole not work but replaced battery and never had the issue again. It was on a 2003 2500 Avalanche and was happening in the winter. Summer worked fine the next winter started up. Replace battery and worked fine. The module devices in these trucks can be voltage sensistive. So just to see if problem you may do this. When it happens disconnect the batteries for 15secs and reconnnect. See if gauge works. if not i would say cluster stepper motor issue. Brian jake111 05-03-2009, 04:18 PM While it could be something else, the same stepper motor was used for all of the gauges. The problem seems to notoriously show up in the speedometer but it can show up on any of them.
