I got my truck back yesterday after having some work done at the dealership. The original reasons that I took it in for were excessive smoke at idle, & a slight decrease in fuel economy. They did a few tests, & finally said that I had an "injector fueling too much". It took them three days to replace the #7 injector, & now, after a full day of driving it, it's not any better than when I took it in. It still has an embarrassing amount of smoke at idle. I was hoping to get all 8 injectors replaced, but I guess that doesn't apply in my situation.

So, my questions are:

1 Does this really sound like an injector problem, or did they misdiagnose? (No codes were ever set, & they wouldn't give me the balance rates)
2 Why did I have to pay the $100 deductible? '01 & '02 owners wouldn't have to.
3 Shouldn't they have changed my oil & fuel filter after an injector replacement, or is that only in certain circumstances?

I just wanted to get some expert advice before I called the "Service Advisor" back.

TIA

#1 if there is visable smoke then each injector can be cut out one at a time to determine which one is causing the smoke.

#2 Your truck was repaired under the 100k mi Duramax warranty, there is a $100 deductable after 36k. The 200k injector warranty is only for injectors that fail due to high return flow rates, then all 8 would be done.

#3 They would only change you oil if there was fuel in it. The fuel filter is a maintenance item and you would have to pay for that.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that there was a revised TSB stating to change the fuel filter when doing an injector replacement.

Looks like I get to go back to the dealer to see if they can figure out which injector is causing the smoke.
