replacing IP, injectors and glows.
i pulled inner fender well and turbo. i am looking at this heat shield. i found 2 nuts i was able to crack loose w/a wobble adapter. then a couple of screws.
the injectors lines are on BOTH sides of the shield.
i guess i leave it in place.
any tips on the replacement inside of this shield?
it looks like it could have been easy for GM to have it fit past, they had to make it that hard. if this would come out, it would be a piece of cake.

The turbo heat shield is held on by the 2 little screws.Once the 2 screws are out it lifts off the tabs on the bracket that is bolted to the valve cover. You have to wiggle it around to get it out of there. Much easier to remove with the exhaust manifold off.

it was pretty easy to get mine off other then trying to get it past my AC lines..

Mine is now sitting on a shelf.. haven't put it back on I might when I do my injectors though. I took it off to inspect the return lines because I thought one or two might have been leaking and couldn't see anything with it on there... That is... if I'm thinking of the right heat shield.

I have the heatshield between the tubo and the injector lines off. I'm a little nervous about hot days, but I'll see. It was a accident for me, and I have no idea what will happen. Diesel boils around 800F( I THINK???) , so I doubt it will do anything bad even when towing.

bk95td ' s post gave me the info i needed.

my ac line was broken at the compressor - a blessing in disguise; has made it easy to make misc repairs and no the ip, ect.
a new compressor will go on soon.

after taking out the screws it wiggled out as he said. i have lots of parts taken off truck that i shouldnt have had to, but want to be sure all is done right

I think it will shorten the life of your injectors and return lines . By how much, who knows.
