I just did a search for all recalls on "C" trucks from 2001-2005. No new recalls are listed. The only recalls pertaining to restraints are the following:

Product Safety - Seat Belt Lockdog Fracture #01043 - (Jun 27, 2001)
01043 -- Seat Belt "Lockdog Plate" Fracture
2001 Chevrolet and GMC C/K Pickup Trucks and Utilities

Condition
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2001 Chevrolet and GMC C/K pickup trucks and utilities. Some of these vehicles have an internal component in the 2nd and 3rd row outboard seat belt retractor that may be cracked. With repeated actuation of the locking mechanism, the crack could propagate to the point where the seat belt would no longer lock. In a vehicle crash, increased occupant injury could result from the no-lock condition.

Correction
The second and/or third row outboard seat belts are to be inspected for the suspect lot numbers and replaced if found. Since the inspection is a visual inspection, and to reduce customer inconvenience, customers will be sent an inspection procedure with instructions to contact their dealer if a seat belt with the suspect lot number is found. However, if they desire, they can take their vehicle to their dealer for the inspection.

ECE/EEC Noncompliance Recall-Third Row Seat Belt Retractor Noncompliance #02012 - (Apr 23, 2002)
02012 -- Third Row Seat Belt Retractor Noncompliance
2000-2001 Chevrolet Tahoes Equipped with a Third Row Seat (RPO AS3) -- Export Vehicles Only
Condition
General Motors has decided that certain 2000 and 2001 Chevrolet Tahoes equipped with a third row seat (RPO AS3) (export vehicles only) fail to conform to ECE R16.04 and 77/541/EEC. The seat belt retractors in the 3rd row outboard seating positions in these vehicles will lock when the belt webbing is extracted quickly. However, the mechanism that locks the seat belt retractor when the vehicle decelerates quickly, such as during heavy braking, may not operate as intended and required by regulations. As a result, the seat belt may not restrain the occupant as intended during a crash, which could result in injury to the occupant.
Correction
Dealers are to replace both seat belt retractors in the 3rd row seats.

According to channel 7 news it's the second and 3rd row center seat belts. They did't say what was wrong with it.

From the WSJ...

The bulk of the vehicles in the recalls, nearly 1.5 million, related to a separate seat-belt problem on GM's full-size sport-utility vehicles and crew-cab pickups. GM had installed a loop to the back of the seat to help keep the second-row center seat belt from falling between the seats when they were folded down. But the loop makes the lap portion of the belt sit too high on smaller occupants, particularly children. Dealers will essentially cut the loop on the recalled vehicles, which include the Hummer H2; Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche; Cadillac Escalades, including the ESV and EXT versions; GMC Sierra Crew Cab, Yukon and Yukon XL, all from the 2003 to 2005 model years. GM said no owners had reported injuries or problems related to the condition.

Their not getting mine if I can help it...

If thats all it is, I'll not waste fuel driving to dealer.

I already cut my loop off. It is easy to see the problem when you look at how high up the loop is.

If you use it, I would do the recall. When the kid gets old enough to use this belt, I will do this, but that is 10+ years from now...

If you don't use it, I want the intent of the loop in the first place....keeping it out of the way of the folding seats.
