Has anyone run both of these tires? I have toyo mts now and was pleased with them but I am thinking of trying the new bfg km2s
any thoughts?

the bfgs are known to wear quicker than the toyo but they do great off road.

For what it's worth I've been searching for a new set of tires myself and I was contemplating the same choices as well. It seems there are a lot of people on the net complaining that the KM2's will not balance, some continue to have problems even after searching down shops with a Hunter road force machine. Several of these people have gone on to say that getting BFG to do something about these bad tires is like pulling teeth. There's a lot of bad feedback concerning BFG as of lately saying how there manufacturing quality is not what it used to be.

On the other hand most of the reviews I've found of the Toyo's people are saying how little weight it takes to get them balanced and treadlife seems pretty decent.

I went with the Toyo's myself but have not had a chance to get them on the truck yet.

I had a set of Toyo's on my last truck(2004 F150) and liked them, they wore like iron. I purchased a set of the KM2's for my Cherokee and have really, really good luck with them.

Put them in service in October of last year, and cannot even tell they have worn. Not a single balance issue, and they are very quiet.

I have a set of KM2's on the way now for my 2500, and I will let you know how they do.

i prefer the old bfg km mud tires over the new design. the new style just seems to wear quicker. you can't go wrong with the toyos.

I actually have the same dilema. But I have the Firestone destination M/T in my mix too, I've heard good things about it.. But I wonder how quite they are? I'm looking for a mud tire thats gonna be quite, and I hear that these are the two quitest tires on the market.

Im running the KM2s on my chev and I love them. Ive got ~12-13k on the set so far and I can hardly tell theyve worn down. I didn't have any troubles with balancing them.

I have about 20 k on my KM2's. I love the traction and the looks. They were/are a bastard to balance. But I think alot of that is due to the crappy place I use, they are friggen idiots. The biggest thing I don't like about my KM2's is that they are rated low on carrying capacity. I am right at or over there limit when I tow my big fiver. I think my next set will be Nitto's. I have found them in a 285 that puts the pair at 7500lbs. That is perfect for me.

Yeah. The 315/75/R16 Toyos are E rated, and the same size KM2 are D rated. I'm going with the Toyos M/T's. Picking them up next month.

My brother has 37" toyo mt with 80k never spun. I got 60k out of my 38" mudgrapplers smoking them quite a few times. Im to the conclusion that if you rotate every 3k no matter what tire you go with they should wear good.....aside from irocks, boggers or something like that.

80,000....Holy Bat Berries.:eek::eek::eek::eek: Are you sure that isn't his second or third set? I have had 6 sets of mud terrains. 3 sets of Toyo MT's, and the most mileage I have gotten will be on my current set. I am thinking it will be around 32-33K. And they have been rotated often.

80,000 miles on a set of tires is a little crazy!!

I did get over 90,000 out of a set of 285-17 BFG AT's on my last truck. It was the same truck I have only with a 6.0. I now have a little over 50,000 on my Toyo MT's in 35-17. I drive a lot of hwy miles but for the carrying capacity I am very happy with the Toyo's. I do some times miss how quiet the BFG At's are.

This is keeping them rotated and balanced every oil change or less with the diesel and every other with the gas burner.

Yeah, I'm hoping to clear 35's with the cognito kit. I'm not scared to cut some more. But the previous owner had 315/75/16 mud terrains on stock wheels at one point, which equate to a 35".. all this with just keys.. so I'm thinking with the cognito kit I should be able to squeeze 35x12.50x17's in there on 08 h2's. I really want something alot larger than the 285s I have now. A 295 is not that big of an upgrade. I heard the Km2's run a tad bit small.. maybe that'll help me... as the KM2's go from a 305 (which is actually under 33") to a 35"... nothing inbetween.

I got about 75k on a set of 35" BFG muds. Still had a little bit of tred left

Go with the KM2's...they do better offroad and I have never had any problem balancing any of them. The Toyo's tend to cup out a lot easier than the bfg's if you don't rotate then properly. How fast they wear? They both wear about the same, just depends on how you treat them on the road.

Is there a big price difference between the two? Say 33s?

BigDmax

I haven't priced a set of 33" tires. But for 35" I was told for the tires, mount and balance would be $1305 for the Toyos and $1160 for the BFG's.

just got the KM2's today, I'm waiting on my hummer wheels to get here, driving me crazy,
I only got a little under 40k on my old toyo muds and they are slicks hopefully the bfgs are better any word on noise?

tinypeckerwood

they are surprisingly quite. keep them rotated and watch your weight if you tow. the km2's are light in the capacity dept. I will be changing mine out when they are done to another brand. I need a higher capacity tire than bfg's "E" rated tires.

85153I just got a set of 35x12.5x18 Toyo MT's and the guy who balanced them could not believe how little weight it took to balance them. The most was 1.5 gram's. It could also be the wheel's you use.

I am definitely a believer in Toyo MT's, they make some noise when they get older but all around a good tire.

I dont mind the look of the new km2 but im scared of anything bfg because ive seen the old style km blow apart with lots of tread left and distroy the the whole side of the pickup box. Ive never ran toyo's before but i want to try them.

I have had both, and for me the bf's lasted longer.
