i know the only difference in the on road and off road fuel is the road tax, color, and i know the off road fuel has more sulfer for better lubrication, but if i ran off road fuel in it would it hurt or help the motor at all? i KNOW its illegal .... only if you get cought !!! :D

Even offroad diesel will be ULSD by 2010. The only thing is you're not paying taxes which is why there's a BIG penalty if you get caught.

Good luck...

X2...most of the off-highway, red-dyed fuel is ULSD in my parts already, and no, it will not hurt your engine. That dye is really pervasive, though, and is difficult to get rid of the traces. The fines can be extremely high (the fines can include calculated use based on tank size and calendar year) into the $10s of thousands in some cases.

In Southern Ohio last year, there was a cattle sale at the Co-Op in Washington County. The Ohio Tax Department brought a crew to the sale and blocked off the exit from the parking lot. They checked the fuel in all Diesel trucks and found several with red diesel.

The trucks were impounded for evidence and criminal tax evasion complaints were filed.

The tax department took the odometer readings of the trucks, divided by some MPG number and calculated total gallons used in the trucks life. They then used the total gallons for the tax computation plus a fine and court costs.

AIN'T WORTH IT

i heard that they did that same sh!t at the farm science review in columbus a couple of years ago.... i agree its not worth it, but i was just wondering if it would have any positive benefits?

Better Lubrication.

Better Lubrication.

Only if it is still low-sulfur diesel and not ULSD. Then again, using diesel lubrication additives, such as Stanadyne, etc., is only a few bucks.

Most off road in these parts is not ULSD. It is old school fuel, better lubrication, when winter comes we cut it with Kersone.

Why would you cut it with Kerosene? You just ruined the lubrication factor. Why not just use an anti-gel? I've never used #1 or cut My fuel with anything I just use an anti-gel.

Putting in Supplemental just because it looks like a good place for such a subject.
