I have a 1983 c20 with a 6.2L. The truck quite so I replaced the injector pump. The truck run fair. It was a bit sluggish. It quite again so The company I bought the rebuilt pump from replaced the pump but required Me to test injectors. I sent the injectors in and had them rebuilt. The truck now is very sluggish and has a lot of smoke during acceleration and driving. It acts out of time but how do you time it?. I am open to suggestions.
I dont know if I am doing this correctly

You are supposed to set the timing correctly with a timing tool. If they can do that where you bought the pump, by all means go there and let them set it.

If you can't find anyone with a timing tool, you might be able to improve it. There's a marker line on the engine and on the pump. When installing the IP, you are supposed to line up these markers to get a position in which you can start the engine. Then you use the timing tool to set the timing correctly. When you turn the pump hosing to the drivers side, you advance the timing; turning it to the passenger side retards it. Starting with the markers aligned, you can try to find a good position, depending on how the engine sounds and how it drives. But if you advance the timing too far, you'll burn holes into the pistons. Having it too far retarded isn't good, either.
