Hey Techs,

I'm removing my green keys and putting the stockers back in, the book says after the keys are installed to "adjust vehicle to proper trim height". Just what IS the stock trim height? I seem to remember when I measured up to the front wheel well before I "greened" it last year the height was about 39 inches, but as luck wouldn't have it, I misplaced that slip of paper.

Oh, before you think I'm crazy and am using a gear puller....I bought the proper torsion tool....it'll even work on my "new" Jimmy and the wife's Blazer.

Thanks guys,

Tom

According to Helms trim height is not measured at the fender but at the lower control arm , it's called Z height for t-bar trucks . Truck should be empty , full of fuel ( or equiv weight) ,stock tires aired to door spec .

1 -Measure from floor to lowest part of steering knucle (by the ball joint)
2 -Measure from floor to center line of pivot bolt on control arm
3 -Subtract 1 from 2 , this = Z height , which should be 4.5" + or - .3"
Book says to bounce front of truck and repeat 3 times , then take the average of the readings
Hope this helps

Put the center of the front wheel well at 38.5-39 inches. I just measured a stocker. The factory method of measuring trim height is stupid, way too easy to make errors.

If you want to measure to the fender , on my '03 with full tank was 37-3/8 DS , 37- 3/4 PS . After cranking 7 turns , 39-1/4 DS and 39-3/8 PS measured thru center line of wheel
