Gonna do a fluid change this weekend. I was wondering how many quarts I need. Also, I have heard both way, does the 4L80E actually have a filter or just a screen? I have been told the screen back flushes and wahes all dirt to the pan. Then I was told it actually has a filter........anyone done this yet?

The 4L80E has a plastic filter in pan and needs to be replaced. The filter is the direct fluid pick up for the pump. When you change it, i suggest replacing the filter seal at the same time. some people get lazy and dont change it, but they do go bad and can cause cavitation(pump will suck air in with the fluid) which is a bad thing. If you are only doing a pan drop, 6 quarts will cover you and give you some left over.
