Ok.. I had a Bully Dog program in my 04 GMC.. It started acting up a couple of days ago.. So I figured it was probably time for a new program (seems to be the norm with this thing about every 3 months). anyway went back to stock program... Wife has it on a raod trip today and just called and said that it was lugging down and blowing white smoke. 29 mph on the main interstate (not good). She pulled over and killed it for a few minutes and then started it back up and ran it at high RPM's in park until there was not anymore smoke coming out of it now....
What could be the problem ?? I think that a while back it was the FRPV and I have been running additive in it and it keeps it from surging at an idle... So anyone have ideas ???? Other that trading it off ???
Thanks for any help
Shawn

Oh yea.. and in my opion .. The Bully Dog system sucks.... Not worth the $875 I spent on .. Can't get tech support on the phone.. sent numerous emails and even the dealer I bought it from can't answer any questions... Not very happy with the BD Triple

Man, it almost sounds like your turbo failed.

Thats what I was thinking... and I really don't need that to happen either... Heard it costs a lot to replace.

well my concern would be is if there is any oil left in the crankcase and just how "high" were the rpm's during its runaway

Ok... New update... I added some STP Diesel treatment and seems to be running fine... I have a theory that this new fuel doesn't have enough lubricants in it for this year model. I have ran a little red diesel through it and it seems to run fine. So maybe it is the fuel... I don't know. But that seems to be the common denominator....

I have run bio-diesel for years and it has been great for me. I also add 16oz of 2cycle once a month or two.

Have you tried the "ice pick" fix? Not sure if thats what the problem was...but it can come and go even without setting codes. I would see if there were any codes set.

Yes there was still oil left in the crankcase.. The RPM's were fine. Its like it wasn't getting any fuel...
