Saw today the GM is recalling vehicles for seatbelt changes. This was taken off of a Yahoo article in the finance section:
Among the vehicles affected, the company was recalling 1.48 million SUVs and pickups from the 2003-2005 model years, including the Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche; Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, GMC Sierra Crew Cab, Yukon XL, Yukon, and the Hummer H2s. GM spokesman Alan Adler said the center safety belt in the second row of the SUVs and pickups, typically used for child seats, was riding high on the occupant's stomach or abdomen. He said there could be a reduced protection in that portion of the body in the event of a crash.
Does anyone have any confirmation?

You would think they could get a seat belt right, especially since there was a recall only a few years ago for silverado trucks Censored
Recall # 00045 if I remember right....

hmmm another seatbelt problem. That makes me feel just great. A few years ago I was in an accident in a 95 Blazer and the seatbelt did not lock up when we impacted. This caused it to spool out and me hit the dashboard and get seriously injured.

This is really going to anger my dog when she finds out since the back seat is hers.

Saw it on the news tonight. They say they will send out letters. Went to the MyGM Link Web site, and the recall section is temporarily not available. Hmm...update in progress?

My dealer set me up on idriveonline.com and it has no indications of a recall yet. That said, I think it would be hard to escape this one since it affects the 03-05's I think...They didn't change the seat belts in that time frame. Now the question is, do I really want the dealer to mess with my seat belts? What is more riskier?

The recall section of My GM Link has been temporarily unavailable for several months now. I was getting ready to take it in for a couple other minor things, now wonder if I should wait a little longer.

It appears to me that the Crew Cab is the only one affected by the re-call. Not sure if extended cabs are affected. I guess we'll wait to see.
