OK, I'm trying to find out if I can use a typical plastic or aluminum fuel cell you would use on like a race car. I'm bagging my truck and my tanks will hang too low, so I want to put a fuel tank between the rear frame rails under the bed. I've done some looking, but have not found if these cells are diesel safe, or if it even makes a difference.
Any thoughts?

my dodge tank is plastic, big rig tanks are aluminium, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem

you can also mount a blazer or suburban tank in between the frame rails in the back...

and here's another good write up about putting a fuel cell between the frame rails...

you can get fuel cells that sit over the wheel wells in the bed, but allowed you to keep your storage space big enough for a standard sheet of plywood.

if they are safe for racing (which I did) and they hold achol and gas I don't see why diesl would hurt.. look in a circle track magazine or craiglist under stock cars, ump modifedy pure street ect my monte has a 20 gallon cell they go bigger to smaller just make sure you get the box with it some people try to sell you just the bladder (plastic tank) if so you need to build a box around it.. also some have foam in them to stop slushing of the fuel I don't know what diesel will do to the foam...

i would either use the blazer tank or just build one to suite your needs. i have a steel cell in mine and have zero problems, the fuel gauge still reads right too.

The foam inside was my main concern. I would think that if race cars are running all kinds of fuels in those things, diesel wouldn't be an issue. So I just wanted to be sure.
I thought of going with a Blazer or Suburban tank if I can find a good used one for a good price. But, I figure if I had to buy a new one, I'd just go with the cell.
Thanks everyone.
